Two girls received minor injuries late Sunday afternoon when their golf cart was struck by another golf cart, causing it to strike a tree, Peachtree City police said. The other golf cart left the scene before officers arrived, and did not stop to give aid to the victims or provide information, police said. The crash occurred at 6:30 p.m. on the path in the area of the Sagamore subdivision and Ga. Highway 74, police said. The driver of the wrecked cart, Caitlin Dillon, told police that the other golf cart had been following closely behind her cart prior to the crash, police said. The crash occurred on a curve in the path as the driver of the tailing golf cart attempted to pass Dillon’s cart, police said. Prior to the crash, a passenger on Dillon’s cart was struck in the head by a lollipop that was thrown from the other cart, police said. The golf cart that left the scene was described as a red golf cart with a white top with no pull-down sides, police said. The victims were unable to get the cart’s decal number, police said. The driver was described as a white male between 13 and 14 years old with blond hair wearing a white polo shirt, police said. There were also two other people on that cart, which headed back through the tunnel under Hwy. 74 toward Kedron Elementary after the crash, police said. The victims had bruises to their shins but declined medical treatment, police said. The damage to Dillon’s cart was estimated to be about $1,000. Prior to the accident the victims had been shopping at the Kedron Village shopping center, police said. login to post comments |
