County budget - what IS the truth?

There were four Fayette County citizens – two of them newspaper reporters - in the audience at the public hearing regarding this fiscal year’s 78-million-dollar budget. If the citizens of this great county don’t trouble themselves to attend an occasional commission meeting and find out for themselves what is going on, but instead depend on what is printed in the local newspaper, whose purpose is to print words that will sell its product, then they deserve exactly what they get when they cast their ballots having no yardstick with which to measure whether those words are truth or fiction.

I've reviewed the Greg Dunn mail out that a friend gave me and can tell you for sure that every single one of his bullet points and recent statements is a lie!

Let's take just one. How about where he said the commissioners cut the budget 6% so they could raise salaries 6%.

The man is either stupid or dishonest. First of all, there are two different numbers sets involved and he knows it!

The county budget in total is about 78 million.

That's the number that was cut by 6%.

The county payroll is about 33 million.

That's the number that was increased.

Hey Greg--if you can't do that math-- you don't need to be a commissioner.
