Sorry for the late reply....

1. The new retirement plan hasn't been finalized at this point and the costs are undetermined at this point. Hence, until it is finalized and the costs are determined, I will reserve judgment.

2. The costs haven't been determined.

3. Per Jack Smith's comments at the last Commission meeting: Employees making more than $50,000/year will get a 1.5% raise. Employees making between $30,000 and $50,000/year willget a 3.37% raise. Employees making less than $30,000 will get a 14.22% raise. The purpose of these raises was to make Fayette County more competitive in the market place. I believe we must remain competitive to keep good employees working at Fayette County.

4. I will be a good steward of the taxpayers money. I will work to make our operations more efficient and encourage departments to work together to support the goal of great service to our residents.

5. I will support the current land use plan and respectfully decline the request to increase density.

6. I am a conservative.

7. Transportation improvements will be number 1 on my list. We need to get projects moving to construction. The County has been slow to complete design and right of way acquisition on transportation projects. There are many intersections that need improving and roads that need upgrading. I will work to expedite the process so the construction and improvements will come on-line to relieve congestion.

8. I worked for Fayette County for 10.5 years as the Public Works Director over Roads and Fleet. I have a good knowledge of how the County government works and will be able to contribute quickly toward making improvements. There are areas where there is room for improvement and I will work with staff to toward that end.

9. Transportation is number 1. See comments above. Support of the Sheriffs Department is number 2 and working with the new Sheriff to make sure that they have the necessary resources to keep our county safe. Support smart growth is number 3. I will support growth that is consisent with our Land Use Plan.

Respectfully,
Lee Hearn
Commission Candidate, Post 3

C'mon, he has a week to read everyone's answers and this is the best he can come up with? Why does every answer come back to building roads? The guy doesn't have a clue. If he gets elected we deserve what we get.

It comes down to 3 really important words:

Conflict ... of ... interest.

As you are an employee of another government that competes directly with Fayette County for state transportation project dollars and other state and federal grant money, we can't trust that you'll put the tax payers of Fayette County above your job. Your employer's constitutents who pay taxes and employ you are expecting that you won't. Either way, that's not a risk I'm willing to take.

If you and I are always in agreement, one of us is likely armed and dangerous.

Looks like another Closed Government candidate, well trained by Overbill. No thanks Lee.
