We received your questions for the school board candidates, but we are concerned about their tone and the context in which our answers will be used.

We are running a positive campaign and believe these questions are negative in nature.

The challengers will not disrespect the current members of the board.

Because these questions will only be posted online, we do not want to get into blogging wars — they are not productive.

If you would like to re-draft your questions in a positive manner, we will reconsider responding to them.

at least said why you think the questions are negative in nature. I wouldn't expect candidates to respond to every little trite response on these blogs. But you have to admit, it raises some questions.

At the very least the "trite responses" help to distill the validity of an arguement. Yes many responses are trite in nature, but many ask difficult questions that have exposed some very questionable activities and / or poor job performances. Those arguements that are not valid tend to die on the blog vine in a rapid and well deserved manner.

Are the reason the Candidates didn't want to participate. I thought the questions could/should have been answered, and it should have been left at that. We could have all read their responses, and it would have helped with our decisions. I can see both sides of this picture.

As you will know, we have been known to beat dead horses on here.

As a citizen I expect more of an elected official.

Respond to the questions. If you do not like the citizen's responses, ignore them just as you do from the board.

A board of directors is supposed to provide direction to the executives. When you provide poor directions, admit the mistake and move on. Do not wait for your superintendent and his staff to provide direction for the board. You have the tail wagging the dog.
