After Midnight on the 4th, we plan to round up all those ratty blankets and tarps and dump them at Public Works on Kelly Drive. Last year some guy neatly folded all of them and put 'em under the bridge. We got a vigilante crew that it is gonna pick up 'em and pitch 'em out. City Hall said wait until the afternoon so we feel like we are the Citizen's Posse cleaning up that trash.

Please do, round up all those tarps and thingies - let's donate 'em.

If you want to be a good samaritan, email me and I'll pick them up and donate them to the Atlanta homeless shelter (or I can drop them off under the bridges in Atlanta, for the homeless folks, next week).

Go TaxPayer....

Last year somebody grabbed all the tarps, wadded them up and stuffed them under the bridge. The Citizen had an online photo.

Some of us don't have the luxury of having the day off. So while you're out there enjoying your parades, fireworks, and cook-outs, remember the nurses in the hospitals, the firemen/EMTs at the stations (and on calls), the police officers on patrol, the 911 operators taking your calls for help, the air traffic controllers, and all the others who have a 24/7 type of job.

Have fun and stay safe!

I always get a funny feeling in the pit of my stomach when I see these lists of people who work holidays and take other days off---as if they didn't select that kind of job to do!

But worse yet, I didn't see one military person listed there!!

About 2/3 of those guys also work on those days. Although some did volunteer for the job just as do the "lists," the ones we have now have been extended up to four times above their normal break.

OK, just how do you want me to remember the list people you made? I may do it if you can explain what to do!

And, thank you. You are the heroes for those of us privileged to have this day off.

Stay safe out there.

Just a thought..I didn't like the 3rd option, wording. "Nothing special..cook-out at home". We're having all of our family over for a wonderful cook-out, to celebrate. Good food, horse shoes, crochet (spelling?), family, friends, beer and margaritas...Super special to me!

I had colon cancer, last year, with surgery and chemo...so life is about time together, even if it rains. Happy happy, joy joy!

I am so glad you're here to celebrate this years Fourth of July Dependence Day. With everyone we all know that is fighting that dreaded disease, it's great to hear someone having successes. Family and friends IS what it is all about these days. That's one of the main things our ancestors fought for and what better way to celebrate our nations history than with our loved ones.

Here's to truly wishing you many, many more Fourths with a cancer free life. I think you and Cyclist have much to talk about.
