Simmons’ signs are being stolenTue, 06/17/2008 - 3:46pm
By: Letters to the ...
I have seen different articles in the local Fayette papers about Mr. Simmons saying that he has been having his signs taken down and removed from the area where they were put up. I have also seen different articles in the same papers written by different individuals saying that Mr. Simmons has not had his signs removed and that he is just using that as a ploy to get attention to try and get more votes. I know this to be 100 percent false, as I have seen evidence of one of his signs taken down on Redwine Road directly across from Hunters Glen at Quail Hollow subdivision. I had seen his sign up there for several days with no other campaign signs there anywhere. His sign was back from the road so that it was legal where it was. I had to go out one day and left mid-afternoon. His sign was still up. When I got home early evening, his sign was still up. The next morning when I left, his sign was gone, and Wayne Hannah’s sign was up where Dave Simmons’ sign had been the day before. That proves his signs are being taken down. With his qualifications, I will be voting for Mr. Simmons for sheriff because the rest of the candidates have what I call “good ol’ boy syndrome.” If you don’t tell anybody what’s going on, they won’t find out. As far as Mr. Johnson bashing Mr. Simmons in what he said, I have always found out through my 65 years that when you come out with the truth about things and hit the nail on the head, other people lash out at the person who told the truth because they don’t want other people to know the truth. As long as people keep the good ol’ boys in charge here, things will never change. This county has had gangs forming and working together for at least six years at Fayette County High School. Just ask the students. This county had drug problems in the schools starting in middle school at Fayette 11 years ago, if not longer. They also had a big drug problem at Fayette County High at least 11 years ago. Hide it, ignore it. If nobody knows about it, it might go away in 200 to 300 years. That’s the perfect way to operate. As far as the Pavilion goes, including the theater, I do not go there to get anything unless I can’t find it anywhere else. I haven’t gone to that theater in years and have no intention of ever going to it again. What Mr. Simmons says is the truth and people don’t want to hear that. If I do have to go to the Pavilion to get something, I consider myself lucky if I come out and my vehicle is still there and even luckier if it has not been broken into. I have lived in Fayette County for 24 years, so I have seen all the changes, most of them for the worse. Fayetteville is three to four times the acreage it was. Malls, stores, homes, and traffic are completely out of control. I’m waiting to see the reaction to this in the paper. Again, I will be voting for Mr. Simmons and if people want to see change in a positive direction, they should vote for him too. One last thing: how many people in Fayette County know that the police station at the Pavilion is not staffed with police at all? The citizens of Fayette County were told when the Pavilion was being built that a police station would be built and staffed with money from the Pavilion developer. What happened to that? Robert E.
