Garbage Pickup - Changes Really Necessary??

Allied (formerly Environmental Partners or EPI) was a bad choice before. Trash pickup was not consistent. Trash would sometimes set out for days. In our neighborhood, many of us went with All South Robinson. The service has been excellent with them. Now the city is going to help us by mandating one provider with higher rates. I suppose that the city will now act as a 'big brother' and answer all our complaint calls when the trash is not picked timely or at all. Is that what we pay our city officials and their staffs to do? I say that there is no problem to be fixed. Let us maintain our freedom to choose hauls away the trash!

Why do we need to pay more for less service??? Twice a week pickup is often not enough, especially in the summer when the trash starts to smell a lot. Government monopoly is NOT the answer!

I thought the city got rid of the garbage problem in the last mayoral election.

I would like to have less garbage trucks up and down my street. I didn't live here when they had a company hired citywide before, so your comments are taken to heart. I'll agree with you, service with Allsouth Robertson has been great. I think my bill is around 39 or so a quarter. IF they could reduce the trucks on my street, and keep the service comparable, I would be in favor of giving it a shot.

City Council made a wise judgement in voting down this unbelievable staff proposal. I just want to know which council member voted in favor of the monoply. Does anyone know?
