Goody-bye Goody’s

It’s good-bye Goody’s. The Newnan clothing store at Newnan Pavilion on Ga. Highway 34 is set to close as a part of a corporate restructuring measure with the June 9 filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. Though the closing date has not been set, the Newnan store is one of 69 across 20 states that will cease operation.

Goody’s spokesperson Joanna Gager said Wednesday that 69 of the company’s 355 stores would be closing. The date for the Newnan closing has not been determined, Gager said. The affected stores slated for closure were those that were under-performing and operating at a loss, Gager said.

Gager said the Newnan store employs 20-25 people. Goody’s will not be accepting transfers, though employees are welcome to apply at other Goody’s locations.

Goody’s is headquartered in Knoxville, Tennessee, and operates clothing stores in the Southeast and Midwest.

There is nothing wrong with this store! I don't mind some of there clothes. I would rather spend my money in here, then some other place that is going to charge me $50 for one shirt!

Not surprising to me.

I am offended by that comment. I was wearing some of their junk yesterday! Nothing wrong with name brand clothes like Levi, Lee, or Keds shoes.
