Just wondering if anyone else tries to eat at Mike's and the evening manager comes by and babbles, complains and tells her stories to you while you are trying to eat and talk with your friends.

We went back as our visit a couple weeks ago was fine. There was a young man manager and he was right on top of everything that night..BUT, last night was our final visit to Mike & C's in Faye'. It took quite sometime for our orders to arrive. Our friend came to join us much later. He placed his order and it took over 1/2 hour for a burger and fries to arrive. We all had finished and were waiting for him to have his dinner. There were only 6 other tables, it was after 7:30 p.m. All the other tables had received their orders and were just enjoying each others company. If it was busy we can understand it. The manager is just too busy socializing and not supporting her staff and helping them in the kitchen. They really need to replace her, and soon. She is out there somewhere but not at Mike's. We were told the one in PTC is much better and so is the quality of the food. Anyone else hear that as well?

We used to go to the Mike & C's on 74. We stopped going at the beginning of the summer as we had several instances of our meals either incorrect or not the proper temperature.

We went back to give it another try a couple of weeks ago but again the meals were lukewarm at best. I don't think we will return.

My family and I were at Mike & C's Saturday night in Fayetteville around 7 PM. Not a problem except my daughter did think the waiter was quite handsome.

The best breakfast in town!! Great service - and we noticed that large groups are coming in for lunch! (Summit Point location)

Just for the record, we went back to Mike & C's to give it another chance. Our gripe had not been with Mike & C's but rather with the evening manager. We went back with a small group and she was not there. The evening manager that night was extremely pleasant, not intrusive, but caring. Our meal was great, and we all enjoyed it. The new manager was terrific! Thanks Mike & C's !

Having two sons and grands who are fiercely proud of their family and their families businesses - I understand your emotion. I'm sure your family is proud of you. Best of luck in the future. Maybe someday we'll meet you during the breakfast hours!

I would like to apologize for my previous comments. I spoke in anger. I was rude and offended many of you. I was defending our restaurant and I know I went totally in the wrong direction. I am truly sorry. These comments were in no way the opinion of my parents. My parents told me the best way to react was to ignore them but instead use these comments as a way of improving the restaurant. I just didn't think. I am very sorry. If I could take back my comments, I would.

I appreciate the emotions that you felt when your establishment's good name and reputation were being disparaged. You have to defend your reputation. It takes a strong character to apologize. You have identified yourself to everyone, while your detractors remain anonymous. Actions speak much louder than words.

Matthew, as I said in an earlier blog, I owned a restaurant for years. I can fully understand how you feel, I have been there myself at times. The only thing that kept me from reacting as you did was many many years of age on you. I know you were angry for yourself and your parents, but as I am sure they explained to you, making insulting remarks would only hurt your business and that is the last thing you want to do. Unless someone has been in that business they have no idea what it takes to make it work. Everyone always thinks they can do it better. Since Mike & C's has been around for a long time, you and your family must be doing something right. I constantly had people telling me what they thought I was doing wrong and what they would do if they were in my shoes. My response was to smile nicely and say "Those are great ideas, be sure to use them when you open your place." They would get the point and yet I had not said anything offensive (I won't tell you what I was often thinking-cause they would surely knock me off this site!). So, dust yourself off, hold your head high and do your best--that is all anyone can do and keep serving the great breakfasts that I enjoy so much.

We've had breakfast there once a week since it opened - and have had nothing but great service! For the past month - the best omelet in town!! Never met the 'night manager'. We're there between 10:00 and 11:00 A.M. Facility is clean, customers are friendly, and food is superb. The waitress knows what we want to start the day; waits patiently while we order; checks on us unobtrusively to see that everything is 'OK". Sorry to hear about what is happening at night. Solution - get a new night manager!!

Think they started down about six months ago. Last time we were there, the young waitress could not get the order right. The meal was not cooked appropriately; and there were a lot of complaints that evening.
HAVE NOT BEEN BACK, and guess it has not improved. It used to be super! Sad!

Isn't this the old management of the restaurant which used to be directly behind MacDonalds and Chic-Filet? It got bad and dirty at the end. Also didn't they open another one in Fayetteville? Maybe they all went there?

I just wanted to set the record straight regarding your comment about the old management of Shadows behind McDonald's on 54. The owner of Mike & C's was the original owner of Shadows, but he had sold it to someone else long before it started going downhill. I don't want to have the reputation of someone I know tarnished because of ignorance. Sounds like Mike just needs to talk to the night manager about his/her behavior.

Sage, think you are correct. The one I was referring to is the one in Fayetteville in the Pointe South shopping center. Initially, it was a great place to go -- especially for breakfast. Sad that things can go down hill so fast.

There is still one in PTC also. South of town in 74 shopping center.

I had the same experience during lunch, the manager complained to my co-worker and I the entire time we were trying to eat our lunch. We have not been back, nor do we plan to.

I have had this happen at other restaurants. It is quite annoying, especially when they have a big beard and bad breath, UGH.

A nice follow up on the service is good, but managers should keep it to that, no more.

How is the food at Bucks? I'm new to the south side and our choices are limited here.

Submitted by skyspy on Wed, 06/11/2008 - 6:42pm.

Never heard of it. The food at Lola and Twist in Buckhead is great.

Blue Point is worth a try also.
