It is getting closer all the time. The 800,000 square-foot Fischer Crossing retail development moved a step closer to the beginning of construction with the approval June 3 by Coweta commissioners of the project’s development agreement. The development is located at Fischer Road and Ga. Highway 34 in east Coweta just west of Peachtree City.

The development agreement states that transportation improvements to the retail area will be constructed simultaneous with the construction of the new development.

First up to be developed on the 145-acre site will be a 136,000 square-foot Sam’s Club, a 10,000 square-foot Japanese restaurant and a 14,000 square-foot CVS pharmacy on the northwest side of Fischer and Hwy. 34, according to developer Scott Seymour. Also included in the first phase of development is a 39,000 square-foot, 14-screen theater and two 20,000 square-foot buildings for upscale retail and restaurants on the northeast corner of the intersection.

Has this developer noticed all of the empty spaces all over Coweta and Fayette? How does he expect to fill these new buildings - Does the county have any contingency plans for when this development goes bust?

will do just fine in my humble opinion.

That said, if the zoning is in place, what's to keep folks from spending their money to build these buildings? I'm thinking they have leases in hand for the big boys anyways. The quicker they have them built, the quicker the rent starts coming in.

Lastly, unless we upgrade access back and forth across Line Creek, traffic will get worse.
