$1,000 reward offered for information

A Peachtree City convenience store was robbed early this morning by a thief who sprayed the clerk in the face before getting away with the cash, police said.

The incident happened just after 12:30 a.m. at the Flash Foods convenience store on Crosstown Road near Ga. Highway 74.

After spraying the clerk with the unknown substance, the suspect took money from the cash register and fled the scene.

The suspect was described as a black male between 19-21 years old wearing a light colored denim baseball cap, a dark colored jacket with a hood, a white undershirt, white sneakers and blue basketball jersey style shorts with a white vertical stripe on each leg.

A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Peachtree City Police Department at 770-631-2510 or at 770-487-6010.

It kills me to hear about crimes like this. Unfortunately, given all of the retail development planned for 54 West, particularly that new planned Cinemaplex, this is just a sign of things to come. It reminds me of the Fayetteville Pavillion. While the sales tax revenue generated from non-county residents is great, the price to be paid is more transient people in the area and crimes like this.

I will be shocked if this is a local kid. A 19-21 year old kid is NOT going to hold up a convenience store in an area in which they live because the odds of recognition go up. The clothes description alone would help police nail him were he local.

Prediction - we will have burglars holed up in the a/c vents of PTC Commercial establishments before you know it. Google - Tinseltown Fayetteville Georgia Robber vent for clarity

Your cop jargon suggests you've been watching too much television and reading too many weapons magazines. What this KID did was retarded, but the answer to every petty theft isn't a dead criminal. That's somebody's (though very stupid) son, maybe even someone's father. I hope I'm not around when you extend your shoot to kill philosophy to even more petty crimes.

Maybe one day you'll extend your philosophy to people who think people shot be killed for petty crimes...no cost to the tax payers, no loss to mankind.

First off, go hug a tree. Man I wish i would have stopped there!!! Yes thats someones son, and obviously they never tought him not to ROB stores. I would have shot him! This thug needs to be shot. Who knows, maybe the substance could have cost the clerk their sight for the rest of their life!! Maybe the clerk is someones son/daughter and someones mother/father!! This guy needs to be shot. Your an idiot travis. Idiot

Go hug a tree, huh? I think I'm directly in line with the laws of this country...No one, in recent history, has been put to death for robbing anyone or anything. Not Again didn't mean he wanted to "shot" the "robber", he wanted the robber to be killed, executed, even. The KID who robbed the store never intended to kill anyone, though he could have. By that logic, we should execute drunk drivers, maybe even those who speed beyond a certain point. Not Again wasn't a little extreme, he was really, really extreme. I'm not an idiot, I'm just someone who thinks that robbers are different than murders. I know I'm not going to garner popular support for defending this guy, but name callers and others who criticize my position need only to consider basic morality. I don't think this KID deserves to die for what he did. What he did was horrible and a he is a threat to society at large, but execution is not the sole means by which a civilized society deals with crime.

It's because of people like Not Again and you, bssmastr (master of the deadly large mouth bass) that we have a justice system and people like you are punished if you were to carry out the deeds you deem just. If you had shot this kid, you would be facing charges, and rightly so. You may think I'm an idiot, but you also have to call everyone else who thinks that people who rob stores shouldn't be executed an idiot, which is most of the civilized world.

The clerk is, without a doubt, someone's son/daughter. This guy should be punished without a doubt; I just don't think death is the just punishment. You types are so quick to deem someone worthy of death. It's because of people like you that I'm glad gun laws are as strict as they are. I doubt you've ever killed a man in your life and if you did you'd probably have a very different view on this subject. But for now, since all you have to do is run your mouth on the internet, and talk big about how you would kill someone, you can pretend that you're a big tuff killer just waiting for the right 19 year old to do something really dumb in front of you. If any of you who feel this way ever get the chance I'll be happy to see you in jail.

Love always,

Your Little Idiot

News flash we have the right in the state of GA to defend our lives, and the lives of our family members if this had happened in a home. When you feel your life is threatened, you as a citizen of the state of GA have a right to defend your life.

Every store clerk should have a weapon available to defend themselves. The sooner the thug wannabes realize that they are playing a dangerouse game the better.

As for the argument that the little worthless thug was/is someones son: who cares?? That kid will never amount to anything. The sooner that he and other young men like him realize that they may lose their lives commiting a crime the better.

There are consequences for breaking the law, and sometimes those consequences are more harsh than others.

Now go hug your friends at crimony villiage.

Good comments. Please consider that store clerks are no where near qualified as a group to brandish a weapon. I would contend that the store ownership or management make that determination based upon the maturity, among other things, of the clerk prior to making a weapon available.

In the wrong hands guns can only make a bad situation worse. They(guns), in my opinion, are but tools, that when correctly applied go a long way toward correcting a fault.

Those who appear to be proponents of the "shoot first" mentality by their perceived readiness to take a life, are merely fantasy seekers.

No one of sane mind who has witnessed the ending of a life wishes to have a repeat performance. Sometimes it happens, all for the right reasons, but that makes it no less painful.

Just my two cents worth.

I would not classify this as petty. While Not Again was being alittle extreme with his comment, he was more right than you. Hard jail time will be the consequence for this persons actions. This guy didn't shoplift a Snickers bar for crying out loud. It was a robbery, bonehead. I say catch the perp and throw the book at him.

I agree. This crime should be punished with hard time. The book should be thrown at this person. However, he doesn't deserve death. That's the only point I was making. You get these people who talk and talk about how they would kill all these people and it's dumb. Execution is not how we deal with robbers in this country. It's been the law of the land for quite sometime. I never said this person shouldn't be punished very harshly, I said they shouldn't be shot on site. Thus, I think you're wrong when you say I was less right (or whatever) than Not Again. He was out of line and I was in line with the law and basic morality. Throw the book at him, that's fine by me, just don't execute him. Is that clear enough?

Just read the article on new population stats. Looks like Riverdale and Old National crime is inching its way into PTC.

Do Crosstown and hwy. 54 intersect? Where?

Do you mean hwy. 74 and Crosstown?

Did the guy escape on foot or car??

Thanks for correcting that. I didn't think 54 and Crosstown intersected.

Crosstown and 54 do intersect, except at that point Crosstown is called Ebenezer.
