Dust in the Wind

It is becoming that time of year again. The grass is growing and the rain is stopping. The ground is drying out and becoming dusty.

Everyday you see some one with a powerful blower or on a lawn mower belching huge red clouds of dirt and dust. Some of the perpetrators even wear dust masks while they turn the air red for the rest of us.

Obviously, this has to contribute to our local smog issues, and has to be bad for breathing. Therefore, here is my question. Should there be limits on blower usage and on grass cutting without a grass catcher?

Well, I must tell you even if some tell me again I complain.

There are people who do not want a speck of dust---even in a drought---where they can see it!!! These are the same people who mow every week even when it hasn't grown any for the previous week!

Also, I see people still watering just as they wish, at what time they wish, and with what they wish. No new grass, just old grass. Same as those above.

They also wash off their cars and other vehicles when they please.
Even if not dirty.
It is crazy to pick up grass unless you haven't mowed it enough. Then one should cut it twice and not pick up the second mow.

You know what I see??

I still see high-rise condos being built, cluster homes being built. I see overpopulation for no apparent good reason. We don't have the water resources in the area to support overdevelopment.

So many of us feel very justified in watering plants when our neighbors fill up swimming pools for the 5 kids they just had to have.

As long as we are still building cluster homes and high-rise condos and filling swimming pools I can only assume that we have millions of gallons of water to spare.

But you see, no pools would be sold if they can't be filled! Jobs lost.

One can continue to get plants in the wild, or do without them for now.
No jobs lost that way!
No political contributions lost!
Think!

I don't rob just because some here in town are very rich! I don't feel justified in robbing for that! Or violating the law as others do.

to limiting mowing without a bag.

We've always mulched and never bagged our clippings. It's been said mulching helps fertilize lawns, which is more beneficial to lawns than bagging and making a mound of clippings somewhere else in a back corner of your yard.

Your question does bring to mind a pet peeve of mine - I hate those lawn care employees who wear a blower as a backpack and continue to blow their trash, dirt, and gravel in the direction of passing vehicles.

why. It's very obvious why the debris is aimed at the street. I slow down when I see those people because you never can tell when they'll step out into the street.

We are unable to comply with all of the laws that are on the books at this point. I wonder how many I break each day just by just performing my daily routines? We have too much government as it stands.

Thank you.
