Is Brown behind barbs?

Just how many pen names does Steve Brown have? Recently I wrote a letter to your paper shaming the editor for endorsing Steve Brown again for mayor. Now three letters have referenced my letter accusing me of being against freedom of speech. One even compared it to the Soviets entering Budapest. This is really overkill and sounds just like Steve Brown.

In my letter I stated that the editor had given Steven Brown free publicity even on the front page to help him get elected in the first place. After his poor performance as mayor, the editor endorsed him again. This was a disservice to the citizens of Peachtree City.

The criticism of the editor was concerning freedom of the press, or actually abuse of the freedom the press, not freedom of speech.

In the future, it would be helpful, “Barb” and “Cee Cee,” if you actually read and understood the First Amendment before you start throwing it around like an expert.

Your editor puts his personal opinion on the front page, which is a “no no” for any decent paper. Even the left-wing Cynthia Tucker does not go that far. He should keep his editorials on the editorial page where they belong.

Sure Brown is doing most of the negative stuff within this forum. He has at least 6 different screen names and the english majors like nuk and ptcguy and mudcat and tiger and hamster all know which posts are his and usually call him out.

But it really does not matter since he is gone from government for good. The county commission race he wants to enter will not happen thanks to his most important advisor and breadwinner.

The best point you raise is why the newspaper - I guess just Cal Beverly - felt it was important to go out of his way and endorse the brown clown on the front page of the paper. Surely selling newspapers (or more accurately selling advertising) is at the top of his list, but when he starts thinking that way he (Cal) is no longer a serious journalist. One could argue that he never has been one, but what is the point of going there?

Peachtree City is a better place than it was three months ago. Praise the Lord! Praise the voters!
