Foxes in PTC drain pipe

Two juvenile foxes survey the Wednesday morning sunshine from their drainage pipe/den near the Flat Creek Country Club in Peachtree City. The foxy photo was snapped by Freddie Frank of the Peachtree City Recreation Department. Have you seen any wild critters near your home? Send us your pictures with details of time and location to editor@TheCitizen.com.

They are adorable. I also would love to hold one. There is so much building going on that we are just chasing the wildlife away, how sad is that! Do we really need more homes and stores when there are so many up for sale and way to many stores that are vacant? There should be a requirement before opening a business is you must move into an existing vacant building. Enough of this building!Makes more traffic and no sense, let alone chasing away wildlife.

You say move into an empty store instead of building a new one?

Europe has those quaint rules and look where they are!

The answer lies in control of WHERE the new is built---not IF!
However until we can stop moneyed interests from having the power to build where they want (such as the West side of PTC) what is happening will continue!

Hopefully the kid that shot the kitten a week ago won't see them.

the Fayette pound doesn't try to come get them. They would do something that dumb. They are wild animals and if they aren't hurting anything should be left along just like the squirrels, rabbits, etc.

I just want to pet them!

Great photo. I'm surprised they let Freddie take their picture and didn't take off running. Foxes are so skittish

I believe it was a fox, or coyote, that ate my cat Marley. We only found remnants of his orange cat hair, after hearing a horrible animal fight late one night.

Keep your cats indoors at night, if you can.

either a Coyote or a Bobcat. Coyotes tend to be pretty brazen when it comes down to attacking dogs and especially cats. Most Bobcats are very reclusive and usually stay away from populated areas.

my big labs prob couldn't either. Reason is that cat takes dead aim at their nose and sends them howling. Mine tangled with a bob cat. You would be surprised how many of them are around here, they are deadly with cats, and sometimes dogs. This one really worked my dog over and he was with the other that weighs about 140.

They are definitely around in PTC. I saw one take a stroll across one of the greens at Planterra and have seen another near the three pond area. They are like a cat with a terrible attitude and bigger weapons.

As far as foxes and cats, my neighbor has three cats that stay outside at night and there is at least two fox in his woods where the cats prowl. They have been co-existing for a couple of years.

I used to live in Tucson, AZ, and we never had any pets out loose in that area. The reason was that if you let your cat out at night, it would probably not come back. It would become a midnight snack for a coyote. Even small to medium dogs were at risk. Coyotes are extremely smart. One time, I saw a coyote trot out of the bushes, up to the side of a road. He stopped, looked both ways, then crossed. Heck, you can't even get most kids to look both ways before they cross a road.

Nuk, you might be right about the bobcat, now that I think about it. If it was a coyote, there would have been no sound of a struggle. The cat would have just disappeared.

I have seen Coyotes in the area a lot recently. Saw one on 54 by the "Hot Spot", 2 last week on MacDuff, and a pack of 3 or 4 along the tracks by Walmart. If you have cats or small dogs, you should keep them inside right now. Fox's won't harm Cats or Dogs, they are very passive animals, even when threatened.

They have started on the Lake McIntosh reservoir project finally and all that area behind Planterra is seeing some heavy equipment operating, likely causing some coyotes and other wildlife to start looking for new homes.

I like seeing the foxes every morning on my way to work. I hope they get to live there for a long time. And it would be nice if some of these new businesses would try a little harder to use existing buildings instead of building new ones. The kroger on Hwy 54 would love to move out. Bralin is more than half empty and that almost new building behinf 3 dollar is still almost completely vacant.
