Tyrone court....Guilty! Guilty! Guilty!

I saw a complete waste of taxpayers time who came to court believing in justice today!

I knew better but came out of principle. Previously, I asked the judge point blank if she gave more credence to the Policeman's word than to the citizens. The answer was 'no'. I came away feeling that statement was totaly untrue.

You be the judge.

All people saying they were innocent were dealing with STOPSIGNS IN TYRONE! And at least 4 of us with the same officer. What a coincidence!

4 of us were middle aged women with no reason to lie and 3 young men, one in high school and one just graduated and one who was in his 20s and lived in Peachtree City.

1st lady has no witness but states she stopped but that policewoman said she didn't come to a ...complete stop...because she didn't see her brake lights come on. The woman then stated she saw the policewoman pull someone over less that 10 mins later at same spot. She also stated that she herself went back and sat under the bridge where the policeman was and watching traffic coming off 74. That it was impossible to she anyone's break lights because of the perpendicular angle!
The town attorney in my eyes, was shamefull. The woman had stated she was a safe driver. The town att grilled her on tickets she had gotten starting in 1977! That was 31 years ago folks! It was pure demeaing and shouldn't have been let happen but the judge didn't stop it. The woman kept stating she HADN'T HAD ANY KIND OF TICKET IN 5 YEARS.. Apparently you are the same person today, you were 30 years ago.

verdict = Guilty!

Lady #2 really had it together and should have been a lawyer. She was gotten at the 4 way stopsign on Tyrone Palmetto, Seniona and Arrowood. At this intersection if you are comming from off Senoia, from behind Publix, the turn is so sharp and the road so badly thought out, you can't make the right turn without hitting the cars on Tyrone Palmeto, therefore ...THE STOPSIGN IS MOVED BACK on Tyrone Palmeto to allow for this.

This lady made it quite CLEAR to everyone but the judge, that she had stopped BEHIND THE LINE were state law says you must, and at that time there was a white car in front of her that was at the 4 way stop so the officer couldn't see her. She then went on to say that where the office was parked she didn't have a view to make that judgement. I have taken the turn there many times and knew very well what she was talking about.

verdict = Guilty

I was next. I was relying on the FACT that they were SUPPOSE to have this on video and that was gonna be my proof! Well guess what...they don't folks, it is your word against the police officer.

Having seen the verdicts before and what I felt was demeaning treatment, and no proof but my word, I told the judge it was a waste. I was told I MUST PLEAD GUILTY, or we would go forward. I said I wasn't but didn't have the proof of the tapes.

I waited outside for the others who came to court hoping to prove their innocents.

VERDICT FOR ALL = Guilty!

IF YOU EVER GET A TICKET IN TYRONE, HAVE IT BOUND OVER TO FAYETTE COUNTY. FAYETTE COUNTIES FINES ARE CHEAPER AND IT WILL GIVE THE POLICE AND TOWN OF TYRONE LESS INCENTIVE TO DO THIS.

PS...I WOULD LIKE TO ADD ...I was at the budget meeting for Tyrone years ago, when the town manager stated,
THE POLICE DEPARTMENT IS NOT PULLING THEIR WEIGHT...the old police chief winced, but the next week there were enough stop signs and 25/35 mph signs went up in Tyrone to make the town manager proud and the police department stated 'pulling their weight'!

Can't you name names?

The Tyrone judge is Sharon Pierce. (She's notorious.)

The Tyrone solicitor is Rhonda Kreuziger.

These names are clearly shown on the Tyrone website.

When lawyers running for judge state they'll be tough on crime, you vote for them. That sets the standard.

Submitted by oldbeachbear on Wed, 05/21/2008 - 10:28am.

what is Sharon Pierce notorious for? The solicitor is a big black woman. Kreuzieger doesn't sound black, but this woman was dirt digging when she went back to the ladies driving record from 1977. It was disgusting.

Submitted by loanarranger707 on Wed, 05/21/2008 - 11:06am.

The gender, race and size of the solicitor are irrelevant (and your response is offensive).

In fact, if the defendant stated to the judge (under oath) that she (the defendant) had never had a ticket, then the solicitor was justified in showing to the judge that the defendant was lying. The solicitor did that by confronting the defendant with the record of her past convictions. Then, of course, the judge would have been right to disregard what the defendant had said in her defense (on the theory that people who lie under oath about one thing are likely to lie about other things too).

I wasn’t there, so I don’t know what really happened. It seems the solicitor (Rhonda Kreuziger) may have done a good job, if she exposed a lie by the defendant, and it is possible the judge thus made the right decision.

However, if a lawyer ran for a judgeship, promising to be fair and to protect the innocent, a lot of people would vote against him or her. People vote for hanging judges. They get what they vote for.

Wikipedia: speed trap
Cities or road sections become know as speed traps where police have a reputation for writing an unusally high numer of traffic tickets, especially speeding tickets. Sometimes the posted speed limits are not easley seen, in others, the limits might be set excessively low. In many of these uses, the term speed trap connotes SPEED LIMIT ENFORCEMENT FOR THE PURPOSE OF TICKET REVENUE instead of saftey.

Examples of speed traps include their usage in the town of Big Cabin, Oklahoma, which raised three-fourths of its revenue from traffic citations, and a significant percentage of that was related to a section of highway where the speed limit dropped from 55 mph to 45 mph.[citation needed] The state of Oklahoma enacted a law in 2004 that penalizes towns where the citation revenue exceeds 50% of the annual budget.[3]

In response to speed trap towns such as Iowa Colony, Texas, the Texas Legislature limited the revenue that smaller cities may collect from traffic tickets. All funds in excess of this amount are remitted to the state. Oregon and other states have similar laws.

Another tactic to limit speed traps is to reserve traffic law enforcement on numbered highways to state police or a similar entity.

Pennsylvania Municipal Police Officers are not allowed to enforce speed limits with RADAR speed detection devices. Instead devices such as VASCAR, and ESP are used. In these techniques, a distance is defined between two white lines, or another method of marking, and the time it takes the vehicle to traverse the distance is recorded.

The prohibition of this kind of "speed traps" followed after a series of successful defences that argued inadmissible error margin in human timing.

what she said in opening was that she was/is a good driver. Then a remark about 5 year clean record. That is what the da turned on her. That she said she had a good driving record. I don't know many insurance companies that go back more than 5 years if any.

As far as you don't like my description of what the solicitor looks like, well, you must know her, name any other way you would physically describe her? and as far as tactics, my idea was she was pretty slimy and nothing I wanted my tax dollars paying for.

you might want to start with the policewoman...Seeing someone's brake lights go on...or off...is not an indication of if they came to a complete stop or not. Anyone going ..down...that hill off 74 into a dead end where you must turn right or left, is gonna brake, so the police woman...was obviously where she couldn't see anyone's break lights at all. What a fruit cake. I think that went over the judge's head too, or maybe not. The whole deal was a kangeroo court, and as I stated, other small towns do the same to the point, states pass laws about how much of their budget can be gotten from traffic stops.

Submitted by oldbeachbear on Wed, 05/21/2008 - 11:41am.

was also a point the woman seemed to be trying to make. That that was not an indication of stopping completley or not. She was trying to show the judge the girl was using poor reasoning at best.

I try to drive about 2 under the speed limit in Tyrone to prevent myself and the drivers behind me from getting a ticket. Once I get out of the downtown Tyrone area, and the speed limits get reasonable, I start driving reasonably.

First, maybe you forgot how a few years ago the Tyrone Council was upset(smola in particular) about how traffic citation revenues were decreasing, so the council decided to lower the speed limit on a few roads to increase revenue, right in the middle of the council meeting! Nice!

I'll tell you exactly what a speed trap is: cops running radar aimed right a the point/sign where the speed limit drops by 10 or 15mph instantly. Fayetteville is notorious for this on 54. They know that unless the driver hits brakes when he/she sees the sign, they'll be speeding.

Submitted by oldbeachbear on Tue, 05/20/2008 - 1:53pm.

I was at that meeting too! I couldn't believe my ears!

I felt really sorry for the lady that proved her case so well. She went to a lot of trouble for nothing, and...I think she was innocent, as I said, I'm very familiar with that 4 way stop.

The police in Tyrone have 3 favorites and they are all around Publix.

1.4 way stop- Tyrone Palmeto/Arrowhead/Senoia Rd

2. the stop sign as after you cross 74 into Publix shopping center where you have to turn left to go to Publix

3. this is my favorite and such a joke...the stretch between no.1 intersection on Senoia road and the next stop sign in the middle of no where...! Senoia road dead ends into a cow pasture. You MUST stop, and turn left, there is nothing else you can do. When you stop, if you look to your left where the ice cream place is, you will always see a couple of them sitting there. This is such a shame cause other than a side entrance to Weiland's houses, there is nothing on this road, no sidewalks, no houses, no nothing. But, I swear to God it has a 25 or 35 mph speed limit on it and a sign that tells you to watch for pedestrians! What a joke!

Submitted by SherylM on Wed, 05/28/2008 - 1:01am.

This is my first time posting, but after weeks of reading your blogs i felt compelled to say something. OBB you are incorrect about "no sidewalks, no houses, no nothing" a matter fact there are 2 houses on the road you are talking about one is empty and the other one is occupied by a family with "CHILDREN". As i have traveled on this road, i have seen countless people driving at a very fast speed. All it would take is for one wreckless driver who runs stop signs to hit the edge of the curv , and cause a poss. fatal accident. Sit on that for a while. One more thing if you are so displeased with tyrone why dont you move to the over populated peachtree city. The police do their job there just as well as the TPD here. I have gotten several tickets myself one was quite costly, but i did not complain or whine about it because i was in the WRONG. I did break the law and i paid for it.
Do you not have anything better to do with you time than to whine about the TPD. They are just doing their job. Give it a rest. People are tired of your child like behavior. Like you said you are a middle aged woman so why dont you start acting like one. And if you dont't like paying for tickets than dont break the law.
I would like to add one more thing. Thank you to the TPD for doing a great job on keeping tyrone safe. My children thank you as well.

and although others have stated there have been pedestrian site ings at the right time of day, I've yet to see one. There are no sidewalks along that road. Because the grass is up to their would-be-butts, I'm amazed how there is no trails along the sides of the road. No bent grass from wide butts or little butts, nothing. Even deer leave trails but these pedestrians that walk down Swanson carrying their heavy groceries back from Publix are slick. There is no sign of them anywhere.

OK, I've been confused about this issue. I thought those "watch for pedestrians" signs were just to alert drivers that there are possibly some pedestrians you can mow over in your car, but you have to be paying attention because they are sneaky and might try to elude you. I like the sidewalk concept as it gives pedestrians that false sense of security that it's safe to walk there. It's like hunting on a baited field!

Why are you giving the OBB a lecture on traffic laws when you also say you've been given "several" tickets in PTC for breaking traffic laws and admit you were WRONG? Is it OK to endanger those PTC kids more than Tyrone's? Is this the "do as I say not as I do" argument?

Submitted by oldbeachbear on Wed, 05/28/2008 - 6:11am.

if you see a pedestrian on that sidewalkless strech behind Publix on swanson, please post pictures. ha ha you are so funny

Submitted by Daniel Ross on Tue, 05/20/2008 - 2:49pm.

OBB, for your first item...is the intersection you refer to the Palmetto/Swanson/Arrowhead intersection? (rather than Senioa). The same occurs in your third item.

Also, the speed limit on the road next to South Hampton is 30 mph with houses on both sides. therefore, it's a residential area. Also, there's still a stop sign, so just stop and then use your blinker to turn.

that is the point. More to the point...it is obvious, Tyrone needs the revenue. This many middle aged woman would not have taken them time out and come up there if they were guilty! As I said, the 1st woman's record was pulled back to a speeding ticket in 1977. That must have been when she 1st started driving! How low of the DA or whatever she is! The woman stated she hadn't had a ticket in 5 years! the judge sat there and let the DA do this.

The second woman should have won hands down. It was sorry. We pay the highest taxes in the county and should not be preyed on in such a manor.
As far as the stop sign at the dead end of Swanson, I've again, always stopped there too, that is how I've seen the cop cars sitting there.

As far as the houses on that road...there is an entrance to Weilands houses, none of which face that road.. there is a house on the right up at the top where you just leave Tyrone Palmetto and other than that, none.

There is also ...no sidewalks...but there..IS.. a sign that says 'watch for pedestrians' , (you know like watch for deer?} out there. Sort of makes you think they are all gonna come running out of the empty fields jumping in front of you at any moment! I guess I'll keep a look out for those mindless herds!

The key word here is 'there...MAY..be pedestrians'...In all my days on that road, I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANY! I can't imagine anyone WANTING to WALK down a road with no sidewalks and several BAGS OF GROCIERS FROM PUBLIX! But I guess the town thinks of everything. How wise. But more to the point, how lucrative!

I WOULD LOVE TO KNOW THE AMOUNT BROUGHT IN BY TICKETS...IT MUST BE PRETTY SUBSTANIAL PORTION OF THE BUDGET. But, like I posted with the references to the other small towns, they aren't the 1st to think of it.

Submitted by Daniel Ross on Tue, 05/20/2008 - 4:23pm.

Actually, I've seen at least one person walking down that road each time I drive down it.

As for the revenue, I'm certain that most of Tyrone's profit comes from citations from the Good Ol' Tyrone Police.

Submitted by oldbeachbear on Tue, 05/20/2008 - 4:31pm.

that wasn't the problem. We all stopped at those stop signs, or we wouldn't have been in court. Everyone there made it clear they had a good driving record. The one they went after so ugly was a woman that hadn't had ...any...tickets till this one for ..5...years. They pulled up tickets from 1977. I thought the whole group acted shamefully.

It made me think of a kangeroo court. I think the whole message was, next time just pay us, or we will try to smear you worse. I have no respect for the police involved, da, or for that matter, the judge.

This is the same bunch that put that boys name out there over a 3 year old 'he said' 'she said' alledged rape. WOW talk about Einsteins.
