Taste of Fayette

ILuvFayette's picture

I am thinking of taking my daughters to Taste of Fayette. I have never attended before. I am assuming it is different restaurants from the county giving you the opportunity to try their food? Anyone out there thats been before that could enlighten me on what they thought of the event?

This is the first year that we have missed this community event. I hope you took your family - and enjoyed it! The Art Show across the street is also a treat. It's small town America at it's best. Let us know if you attended - and what you thought.

We did attend and we thouroughly enjoyed it! I think we will be making it each year. At times it was quite crowded but that made it even more worthwhile. Had a lot of fun socializing with new people.

Some of the booths left a lot to be desired (both the food and the people working the booths were somewhat ho-hum). They looked totally bored. I felt that if you aren't that enthusiastic about your restaurant, why should anyone else here be? I wondered why they even bothered being there.

I did have an absolutely delicious kabob sampler!!! Now, the people working that booth were completely enjoying themselves and I think that brought a lot of people to their booth. They were dancing, singing and it made you "want" to sample their food!

I think my favorite part was watching the kids. They left chocolate and ice cream evidence all over their faces, lol.

So glad you enjoyed it! Graduations prevented us from attending this year - but we have it on the calendar for next year!! We attended our first one while our house was being completed - and we knew we had made the right decision to move to Fayetteville! The people were so friendly and approachable - and after almost 5 years - we have the same opinion.

Well, with the limited variety of restaurants in Fayette, I can only imagine that the food would be comprised of chicken wings, pizza-by-the-slice, greasy Chinese food, and BBQ.

After that, you can cruise the Dollar General. I hear they're having a sale.

Have fun!

Main Stream you are incredibly negative. You did not attend an event and automatically assume that it was not worth attending.

I attended the event and I saw people enjoying a large variety of good food, meeting their neighbors, and kids having fun. That is truly awful is it not? Your terrible attitude kept you from enjoying a great event. You lose.

I don't think it was a negative comment, really, just realistic. I've lived here many years and the restaurant community is lacking down here in Fayette. This would definitely transfer over to the quality of the food at that event - that's just reality, and we all lose, not just me as you posted.

The other parts of the event you mentioned sound great, like seeing neighbors and letting the kids have fun. But the thought of chowing down on food provided by Fayette restaurants actually sounds like punishment.

There is no good wine here; there is no good food here; there are only hicks and home-brew here!

I can live with steaks, seafood, BBQ, Chinese, Thai, cat fish, hamburgers, hotdogs, spaghetti (and 50 Pasta places), wild boar, Pizza, and several Bufett places with nearly everything (including fried chicken.) Ripple is also available.

None of it cost $65 like Chicago, NY, Phillie, or LA!
Can brag more about it though!

If you cannot find good wine, you don't know where to look.

Your "hicks and home brew" comment speaks volumes about your condescending attitude toward this community. If it is so bad, why do you stay? There are other places you can go, even in the Atlanta metro area, if this is such a bad place to live. Look at the bright side, if you leave, the average IQ here will increase substantially.

You made an error!
I was mocking a couple on here who HAD said such stuff as no wine, no food. As to what I find good to eat here and that satisfies me, I listed the food and it can be gotten here!

There was no need to question my right to existence and my ability to function until you knew what you were talking about!

Why are many on here so vicious? Want to know who my employer is so you can forward them some stuff?
Well, I don't have one, so you will have to deal with someone else! Cal, maybe?

I read all the posts about the taste of Fayette and did not see the reference to the "home brew" etc. you said you were supposed to be mocking in your post. I simply read what you wrote. It is also virtually impossible to detect mockery, sarcasm, irony or any other literary device in this type of forum. I read what you wrote, interpreted it as written and responded.

If it was meant as mockery, I missed it and apologize. I simply did not read it that way.

It was a nice day and event wasn't it. Lots of people, at some points very crowded, but it was a good event.

I have a question, this is probably a real can of worms I may be sorry I opened, but I'm wondering if I'm the only one. What about folks bringing their dogs? And I mean big dogs, in a crowd like that. . .I'm not sure it is the best idea. I know the dogs were on a leash . . .but not all of us are pet lovers . . .

I don't mind a good dog, but some of the children need to be on a leash! They have absolutely no manners and no respect for someone else's property. Raised to be gangsters and prison inmates, I suppose?

I saw that really big dog that your talking about. It was very large, but well trained and very docile. I personally have no problem with dogs, with vigilent owners, at an event like this.
