Our Economic Stimulus Checks

Git Real's picture

The federal government is sending each and every one of us a $600 rebate.

Since 9% of all Chinese imports coming into the US are sold at Walmart, the money will go to China.

If we spend it on gasoline it will go to the Arabs or that two bit dictator in Venezuela.

If we purchase a computer it will go to India, China or Malaysia. (It amazes me how I can order a computer on Thursday and on Monday it arrives from China fully customized and ready to roll)

If we purchase fruit and vegetables it will go to Mexico, Honduras, and Guatemala.

If we purchase a good car it will go to Japan.

If we purchase useless junk it will go to Taiwan and none of it will help the American economy.

The only way to keep that money here at home is to buy prostitutes and beer, since these are the only products still produced in the US.

Since I indulge in neither, I suppose I will save mine. WAIT... I'm not getting one. How unfair is that. Puzzled And I though we were a country that provided equal opportunity for all....

Git, you'll be happy (?) to know that you could spend your rebate check in ways that kept the money in the US, and without resorting to prostitutes and beer. On second thought, that possibility will probably disappoint you, but nevertheless, here it is.

If you go to www.kiplinger.com, they have an article about "Keeping your Rebate in the USA." The article enumerates several ways you can spend the $600 without resorting to prostitutes and beer, and without sending your hard-earned money to China. Sorry!

Here's the link: http://www.kiplinger.com/magazine/archives/2008/06/spend_tax_rebate_help_economy.html
(I'm too lazy to convert it into a link.)

PS- The suggestion that you were interested in prostitutes was intended to be tongue in cheek. Just kidding about that part!

Heh, heh, heh.....

Seriously though; Baseball and Hotdogs. For the time being we dominate in those two areas. So it's off to ballpark with my imaginary stimuli check to watch the Bravos stomp the Padres at 1:00 on Thursday afternoon. I hope on that stomp part. Eye-wink

The Federal Govment lied about giving you $600. It was very clear that Bush said everyone, 130 million households, would get $600 for the economic stimulus package. All you had to do was file an IRS return. There were no other conditions. Oh yeah, read all the ifs, ands, & buts at IRS.Gov.

Hey Missy Sippy!

Bush had to sign in some Democrat components to his so-called stimulus package in order to get it passed. Said components were those of 'class envy' & 'wealth distribution'.

I would have preferred the gumament keep everyone's rebates and instead cut wasteful spending. But Noooo.......
