Deputies choice for Sheriff

I have talked to many members of the Sheriff's Office and they support Babb for Sheriff. Don't take my word for it go and speak to some of the deputies and see for your self.

This is the question??

Randall has been a good Sheriff but he has not been a great Sheriff. Oops, did I just insult Ronald Reagan or something?

He refused to hire a Chief Deputy after his falling out with Butch Hall. He has refused to send his officers to the FBI National Academy. He has continually isolated himself from the public over the years. He created a fictitous rank, that being Lt. Col., a military rank seldom found in law enforcement in order to justify paying his buddies more, and too much by the way. He has not insttituted community policing as a departmental wide philosophy, nor even a community policing strategy or programs. He has allowed the DTF to take on a mission it was not designed for, operating outside of the county alongside the DEA and other multi-jurisdictional drug agencies, as well as luring dopers into the county at the expense of the safety of the public; all in pursuit of the mighty dollar in the form of asset forfeiture funds.

But seriously, the Department is in need of some real changes. We need a Sheriff and a department who are responsive to the needs of the community. We need a Sheriff who will get out and talk with the citizens, listen to their concerns, and take immediate action. Here is what you will get with the current candidates running...

Wayne Hannah-more of the same old same old

Barry Babb-more of the same

Thomas Mindar-less of the same but with a reckless and unqualified man at the helm

Dave Simmons-a professional and progressive department with a trusted and qualified leader who is responsive to the needs of the community, a department moving away from a culture of entitlement and the good-ol boy system which is presently still alive and well, a department that recognizes your efforts, hard-work, and ambition, as oppossed to who you know.

I was at a store in Fayetteville recently and a mom from Clayton Co. stopped to get directions to get to the Fay. Co. jail to bail her son out. She said she was going to beat the daylights out of him, but was going to wait till she crossed into Clayton County to do it. She said, "not in Fayette County, no way". That speaks for itself. Thank you Sheriff Johnson for your service to our community.

That is a true statement I know many deputies that work for Fayette and they would love to see him elected for sheriff. He is fair and a good person and knows the department and is aware of the many changes that need to be implemented in order to make the sheriff's department a better place to work. Happy employees make better employees its a win win for the deputies and the citizens of this county.

Are the deputies the only ones voting? Maybe the citizens will have some say in this matter. Maybe we want a more progressive department than the good ole boy system we have now. We are facing new challenges daily. I want someone who will not operate the old way.

Then don't vote for Hannah, for sure.

I think one of the reasons so many deputies support Babb is because they believe he will make the changes that need to be made (ie. more progressive department) without destroying the morale of the dept, and while doing what is truly best for the citizens of Fayette County.

Not only are the deputies not the only ones voting, there are more than a few who won't be voting in the Fayette County election at all, because they don't live in the county (mostly due to the cost of living here). But that doesn't mean they can't have a voice in who they would like to have as their next boss.

I want to know what they deputies are thinking, who they're supporting, because they are the ones on the inside, who have worked along side 3 of the 4 men who are running.
