Local launches singing career

Bennett’s Mill Middle School eighth grader, LeAndrea “A’lise” Holliday, is making serious inroads into the music industry. Over the last month, Holliday, who performs under her middle name A’lise, has accomplished a lot in the proliferation of her music career beginning with a performance of her first single “Lean All Day,” at the A-Town Day Festival held at Turner Field on March 22. Two days after that event she won the 6-8th grade category of the Fayette County Kiwanis Club’s Talent Showcase singing another original song entitled “You Can Change the World.”

Holliday has been invited to perform at Bring Your Child to Work Day for workers at Hartsfield-Jackson Airport on April 24, at which many of Atlanta’s dignitaries will be in attendance. She also performed at the Earth Day event held at the Atlanta Zoo on April 19 and will perform at the Sweet Auburn Festival in Atlanta on May 10. She is also slated to perform “You Can Change the World” at the National Baptist Convention’s Youth Conference in Houston, Texas and again at the National Baptist Convention here in Atlanta this summer. In reference to “You Can Change The World,” it was recently submitted to Senator Barack Obama for consideration as the theme song for his presidential campaign.

Things are definitely heating up for this 13-year-old independent singer/songwriter from Fayetteville, Ga.

“My album is due to be completed and ready for sale online and in stores this summer and I’m really excited about all of the great opportunities that I’ve been given to perform and entertain,” said Holliday. “I truly appreciate all the love and support that I am getting from the community, and I thank God for my family and my management team, tBMB Music, and all the hard work they’re doing to help my career grow.”

Holliday will be holding her single release party on April 27 at Dazzles Skating Rink in Fayetteville for her first album single “Lean All Day.”

“This is going to be the best party and alot of fun,” she said. “The skates will be free with the admission, which is only $6 to get in. Jazzy T from Hot 107.9 FM will be hosting and we will be holding a $1 raffle with prizes including iPods, posters, t-shirts and a grand prize that includes a chance to be a feature on my upcoming album ‘13.’ We want everyone in Fayette County to come out, have fun and enjoy the festivities. It’s mainly for kids but we want it to be a family event.”
