Mayors, councilpeople and such

Somebody said these people were ill-taught in school,
Another way of saying that is that they are a fool.
While studying the ones we have, it seems they can write and read,
But their common sense they do not heed!
The use of local officials by the business community,
Has destroyed all sense of local unity.
My recollection of Mayors and such of old,
Was that they mainly were already accomplished and not sold!
For many years now we have taught our kids how to make a living,
By hook or crook and to heck with giving.
In my opinion we should first teach them liberal arts through grade sixteen,
Then teach them to be where they are and not where they have been.
