Democratic membership on the riseTue, 04/08/2008 - 4:01pm
By: Carolyn Cary
The Fayette County Democratic Party is growing weekly, and is now consists of over 80 members. They have been meeting each third Saturday at Starbucks in Peachtree City, but have outgrown its meeting room. An announcement will be made soon as to the new meeting place. President Judith Moore thanked everyone at its recent meeting, for obtaining new members, and for support of the district voting rally. The party obtained signs reflecting its support of encouraging the Georgia General Assembly to change the manner in which the county commissioners are voted upon. Speaker for the occasion was Dr. Franklin Randolph "Rand" Knight Jr., who is running against United States Senator (R) Saxby Chambliss. Knight, a native of Atlanta, received a PhD. in Ecosystems Analysis at the University of Washington in 2003. "Like many Georgians," he said, " I am sick and tired of the constant bickering and fighting in Washington, D. C. We need a senator who recognizes that strength at home is a function of many things, like clean environment, access to education and quality, and affordable health care. These re tough problems, and we need man who isn't just another politician." For information you can call Judith Moore at 770-969-5237 or 404-580-7317 or check out the Web site www.campaignwindow.com/fayettedemocrat .
