Tyrone Council’s Accountability

Last fall the current Town Mayor and Council ran on a platform that included accountability to the citizens. Unfortunately, this was only a campaign promise not something that they actually intended to follow through on. In February when they appointed a citizen to be in charge of renovations of Shamrock Park, I raised the question as to how they intended to hold her (Ms. Jefferson) accountable. Apparently this group did not intend to hold her accountable, but instead intended to give her the taxpayers open checkbook. Her first effort was to destroy the aquatic and wildlife habitat around the lake. However, in her haste to do so she apparently forgot to include in the bid cleaning up the mess left after the destruction. Simple answer, go back to Council, blame someone else (in this case Peachtree City) and ask for more taxpayers money. Never questioning why Peachtree City was being blamed for this problem (last I checked, the citizens of Tyrone do not pay any taxes to Peachtree City so why would they spend their citizens tax dollars in Tyrone), this Council opened the taxpayers checkbook again and gave her more money. (As a side note, one might ask why this Council instead of spending taxpayers money did not request assistance from Fayette County that does collect taxes from Tyrone residents but that is subject for another day). Well a contractor has come and gone and once again there is still a lot of debris around the lake that needs to be cleaned up. Who will Ms. Jefferson blame now (bet it is Russia’s fault), or will the Council open the taxpayers checkbook again or just hope it simply disappears. Probably the Town’s public works department will be tasked to clean it up instead of filling potholes or other normal maintenance duties. Two tries and still a mess with no accountability.

You need to read Mr. Dial’s letter to the editor and practice “responsible free speech”. You need to learn how to post blogs “with care rather than using it with reckless abandon”.

Sounds to me you have a personal grievance against Mrs. J. What did she do to you? Tyrone would be better off if they had more citizens that volunteered their time.

I have on question for you. Would you volunteer any of your services to Tyrone and then take the backlash of bloggers? Doubt it!

I think we all know who these people are...for so long they could do as they pleased, get paid as they pleased. Now that some of their butts are in the street and others on the way, they are crying foul, and trying for sympathy from the very people they used and abused...JJ is a wonderful person and the lake looks good.. They are just grasping at anything as they go over the rapids. They know they will never find another honey pot so open to swilling. If they were so wonderful, they would have moved on, and not be trying to get in through the back door again...they can't accept, they went overboard and now their free lunch, or should I say, breakfast at Tiffany's compared to the rest of us...is gone...they blue it...it is called gluttony! Face it guys...there is no comeback...go forward...look for what you can get by your performance record and abilities and get over it.

Disappointed in Grace Caldwell

There is definitely plenty to bash our current council about, but cleaning up the lake, I personally don't think is the one that is on the top of my priority list. I realize we all have our opinions, but I like the way the lake has been cleaned up. What I don't like is the way that Grace Caldwell has taken it upon herself to micro-manage the Town's business. I can't believe she debated over the cost of rekeying the town hall. It makes only good sense, to rekey the building for several logical reasons. Why are we putting such trivial items on the agenda? Also, I for one am not a Valerie Fowler fan, but to accost her like she did at the last meeting, goes against even what I think should be right. Isn’t that what the citizens thought she and Barry were doing to us when we into Town Hall? Grace, you are turning into a bully at the council meetings. Mayor Rehwaldt and the rest of council, you need to reel her in. I understand that a lot has gone wrong with the Town in the past, but let’s remember and try to work together as a team. I believe that is what all of you wanted in the beginning, right? You are making yourself out to look no better than Lee, Smola, Letourneau, Amos and Fowler.

let me tell you that you are the ....only...one.. Grace doesn't micro manage, and all I can say is I would have loved to have seen Grace call her on the carpet. I think I can speak for most, if there had been a viedo tape....the town could sell copies at $10.00. bucks a throw and people would be standing in line. In fact, the town would be on the plus side, instead of having an audit to see what happened with the money..it seems pretty plain they can't tell from the books...which brings us right back to your friend...Thelma Lou...did we start a reablitation thing for, low IQ, lazy, sullen, overpaid, underworked people, if so....why? We are a small town of modest means, so again I ask...why is this ....still.... going on?

You seem to thrieve on picking on someone that does not fight you back. Valerie Caldwell is many things but overpaid, underworked, lazy or low IQ are not any of those. Of course, those descriptions are from a spitful women who thinks the world is out to get her. Grace does micromanage this town. As her friend and confidant you would never admit that truth if it smacked you in the face. Grace is also mean and spiteful so actually you are two of a kind.

for Thelma, over the taxpayers? Are you indeed Thelma,,that a lot think? Barney...or Smarty pants...etc...so many other names...? Let me explain, unless you can add something new...no one is interested...you have beat this old dead horse to death...unless you can show some wonderful qualities that Thelma, Barney, and Smarty Pants, wasn't she proved to be that over sized wanna be fireman..who is jealous of Grace and has fantasies of being elected to Grace's job.....lets get down to it, unless you know something real, other than you..think...maybe..they killed some wildlife, why don't you find a hole and crawl off...? You can't get anyone even ...interested..in your goofey BS...go take an IQ test...then be glad for where you are and what you got ,,,,and if someone left you something...cause...really you ain't gonna get it on your merit!

Tyrone’s Accountability?

It is certainly true that some of the new Council’s promises made during the Election have been ignored. Big promises too. But those promises have nothing to do with Shamrock Park and Judy Jefferson. Since the Lake clean-up is a public works project, why can’t the Public Works Dept. clean it up as part of their paid duties? Barry Amos used the Public Works employees to paint his office. Just ask Denny Nelson.

Shamrock Park's clean-up was part of what Ms. Jefferson presented to the council. The lake clean-up is more involved than slapping a couple coats of paint on the wall. It involves large pieces of equipment and more people than the town public works employees.

That Tyrone's illustrious ladies get what they want and they want Ms. Jefferson. I am still amazed to see how the council can allow someone to randomly spend money, without getting open bids, and have no responsibility to the town. Accountability by the mayor or the council???? NOT!!!! Atleast Eric Dial wants and Ethics Board but I have a feeling the rest of the council wo'nt that because it will bite them in the butt.
Funny how Grace and Gloria's cronies seem to want to blame Valerie for all of the problems and mistakes when her responsibilities are as a clerk? The blame game is very previlant with Tyrone Government and the blame is always passed to others.
