Tyrone’s Council Exposes Clerk’s IncompetencyResponding to numerous complaints and her own observations of Town’s Clerk/Zoning Adm. Valerie Fowler’s failure to adequately perform her duties, Councilwoman Grace Caldwell questioned Valerie Fowler about her qualifications for her job at the March 20 Hearing. It was revealed that Valerie responded that she had once started a course but didn’t finish it. One observer opined that it appeared that Valerie might be qualified to run a cash register at WalMart. Valerie Fowler’s duties at Tyrone include keeping minutes of Town hearings, communicating to Council all information conducive to government efficiency, preservation of public records, collecting revenue, keeping the checkbook and paying bills. In addition, she is responsible for dealing with businesses and making reasoned decisions on land uses for business permits. Because of the Town’s inability to locate funds and records, a financial audit has been ordered and a financial consultant employed to examine the books. Numerous disputes and lawsuits have been filed against Valerie Fowler and the Town. And hundreds of people have signed a petition to remove Valerie Fowler. Mayor Don Rehwaldt says he can’t find a qualified person to do the job. Will qualified persons please send the Mayor your resume.
