A missing 7-year-old boy and his friend were found safe ... and stuck ... in a swamp area behind Wynnmeade Parkway Thursday evening.

A search by the Peachtree City police and fire departments, along with several concerned neighbors, turned up the pair, who were reported missing around 5 p.m., police said.

With colder than normal weather, it was a race against the clock to find the stranded pair.
By 8 p.m. the children had been located and were being treated by Peachtree City medic crews and taken to a hospital for further evaluation, police said.

When the initial report was filed, the youths had been missing for approximately an hour and were last seen playing basketball in the Wynnmeade subdivision. Officials used an automatic phone messaging system to alert nearby residents of the missing child alert.

The kids were found in thick vegetation water and mud and had been unable to free themselves, police said.

Hey Squirrell, why not leave it at "I am glad that the children were found safe." I am very thankful for that myself. Oh no, that would be too easy for you.

Your statement of expression through symbolism of truths or generalizations about human experience (allegorical)was obvious. I have lived here for 26 years and I have never known Wynnmeade to be referred to as a swamp. However, we do live in a 100 year flood plain.

Having and/or being an established preference (predilection) should be true of anyone wanting to live anywhere they choose to live. I.E affordable living, works best for some folks. With the economy as it is now and foreclosures rampant, before it's all over with it will work very well for ALL folks who have to live within their means.

Can a rationally educated person please define to me, hyberbolic in the sentence in which it was used? I will appreciate it greatly.

Bottom line...no matter what we do and how our community improves from what it once was...from Jimmy Carter to our soon to be president, communities fall from grace because people stop caring.

Not just the people who live there. but the people around and outside that community as well, including the city government. It is after all what we know, what we think, what we want for Wynnmeade that will count for us, not what the secret squirrels of the world think. He doesn't know or respect what has gone into the improvement or what we have done to take this community back. He is too busy keeping his nose in the air and seaching for the "big words" to justify his ignorance. More power to him or her. Even more power to us.

There is a retention pond at MacDuff Parkway on the Wynnmeade side that we have been pleading for years and as recently as 2 weeks ago, to have it gated or filled in so that a child from any area of town won't end up face down in it. When we had the heavy rains 3 years ago, It flooded the street located behind the pond and all the debris filtered into the creeks and flooded homes too. It caused major damage to some newly renovations. We are constantly being told what can't be done by the city to help those conditions and that it is the responsibility of the developer who owns the property.

We do all that we can and one silly comment from one silly person won't stop the progress. Maybe, just maybe other people in the Wilksmoor village will start to complain about that pond before the April showers turn the tables on us again. Hyberbolically speaking.

There's something strongly allegorical about "Wynnemeade kids" being stuck in a "swamp."

As a satisfied resident of the Wynnmeade subdivision, I take offense at comments such as yours that try to keep all Wynnmeade kids and residents “stuck in a swamp” because of the past actions of some bad apples. There is no argument that Wynnmeade has had its problem residents in the past and there is also no argument that these bad apples caused the Wynnmeade subdivision to get unwarranted attention and a reputation of being a high crime area full of thugs, druggies and low-lifes. Even now, whenever the subdivision is mentioned in the press, the negative comments, such as this one, fall right in line. There has been a significant effort in the past few years to overcome this reputation and to maintain this subdivision as a viable choice for living.

The truth is that this “historic” area of Peachtree City offers a peaceful and friendly community and is a great place to live. The houses are older, but many are large and well built. Many are in the process of being updated and renovated. You can get a lot of house in Wynnmeade for low money, probably partly because of the “bad” reputation! The neighbors wave as you drive down the street. The area is conveniently located and except for the traffic on Highway
54 I haven’t had one complaint.

First, you utterly misconstrued my statement. There is nothing- zero- in my comment which keeps "all Wynnmeade kids and residents “stuck in a swamp” because of the past actions of some bad apples." I do not have the power by my words to simply will written thought to happen. I would, however, gladly trade your offense for proof that I did have such ability.

Second, I grew up in PTC and have lived here for over 30 years. I spent time in Wynnmeade; had friends who lived there; know people who live there and still drive past it when I cart to Home Depot. So please spare me your grossly embellished characterizations of the condition of that neighborhood. I have no problem with Wynnmeade. However, I am not predisposed to making hyberbolic statements about the houses and certain elements residing therein. If that is your predilection, so be it. But a "man on the street" survey of people who have even casually gone through Wynnmeade, much less those of us who knew it when Ford and Carter were in office, will dispel the rose-colored estimation you give. Certainly there is renovation and improvement taking place. Certainly, some property owners care. "Some." If you're one, then here's your pat on the back and a "kudos." Best of luck to you.

children that had every right to go to a community pool being run out by a nut case that lived next to the pool who then called police on children who did nothing wrong...then fatso, now police chief of Tyrone, grabbed one of the kids who helped get ...HIM OUT OF THE MUD IN THE SWAMP...CAUSE MR {{{EDITED AND WARNED}}}..BOGGED UP... popped his billy club on the oldest, my 12 year old...and called 'Juvie''as he kept calling it to ...demanding that they come get these kids and put them where they belong! Thank God he was only a legend is his mind and that of anyone that made that slug an offical! Thank you 'juvie' for your comment sense...have you got any places for 'small minded police chief's who have been enabled by small minded towns?

I agree... I don't know what that was all about. I wonder what oldbeachbear's native language is.
