Media Silence on Spitzer's Democratic Party Affiliation

ABC and then NBC "Nightly News" two days ago, not once mentioned that he was a Democrat. "Good Morning America," not once mentioned that he was a Democrat. ABC "Nightly News" [sic] not once mentioned that he was a Democrat. CBS, one mention on the nightly news, no mention on the morning news. AP did a three-paragraph breaking story, never mentioned that he was a Democrat, then they came out with a full story, never mentioned that he was a Democrat. Last night, NBC, never mentioned he was a Democrat. Last night, ABC never mentioned that he was a Democrat.

Why did I post this?? A couple of days ago, Jeffc labeled me a conspiracy theorist because I accused the Main Stream Media of liberal bias.

Sorry Jeff, but your allies have been caught red-handed again. Look down. Believe your pants are around your ankles. Better pull 'em up quick before you get caught up in some kind of scandal . . .

Let me proffer this to determine exactly how far over the edge you have slipped. Can you watch this: Hillary's Phone Ad and honestly say that it is not funny?

Hope you don't mind my poking fun at Hillary and Barack. If you are sensitive don't watch.

will become the Governor of New York. I don't care what side of the political spectrum you might be on but, you have to give this man a lot of credit for overcoming a lot of obstacles thus far in his life.

So far, FOX and CNN have continuously covered the Spitzer thing.
I have heard the word democrat all day! Even who is and who isn't one in the New York congress.

Since people delight in seeing someone of high office get stiffed, it really doesn't matter what politics they are--it will be covered.

The rhetoric about it is somewhat different, due to the fact that the republicans take credit for the salvation of principles and morals, and thereby deserve more criticism when they fail often.

Lip service as opposed to hypocrisy just doesn't fly!

Thank God there is coverage of the story by Fox and others. It is our only hope to find some kind of BALANCE in the coverage.

I take no delight in this. I was merely pointing out the inherent bias in the coverage.

To clarify, here is the text of Jeffc's post on 3 Mar:

Yeah, yeah, I know. The largest news organizations in the country are all in a left-wing conspiracy to deny the truth from being published. In fact all of them, ABC, NBC, CBS, CNN, Washington Post, New York Times, Chicago Tribune, L. A. Times, MSNBC, Time, Newsweek, etc. etc. are all involved in a liberal conspiracy of lies except for NewsMax and FOX.

Do you realize how that sounds to those of us out here in the reality based world?"

Appears I am the one of the few living in reality . . . by recognizing the need apply a filter to the sound bites we are flooded with. Meanwhile, Jeffc is content to accept all of the slanted journalism as fact.

In this case, it was an attempt "to deny the truth from being published." And by chosing to omit the fact that Spitzer is a Democrat, they lied. It was a LIE of OMISSION.

By the way, conspiracy theories are not my style. The left cornered that market long ago. Tell me again, what is the latest one about the collapse of the two World Trade Center Towers?

I checked the top ten news sources on Google News and all reported Spitzer was a Democrat except two: the New York Daily News and the Wall Street Journal. They didn’t mention it probably for the same reason they don’t report the sky is blue, everybody knows it.

Conspiracy theories are not your style? Ummm, how would you describe these posts other than calling characterizing them as describing a conspiracy by the liberal media to suppress the news that the Governor of New York is a Democrat? Fortunately Cal will let us post it here so everyone who doesn’t know it will be able to find out the truth.

It doesn’t change the fact that when virtually all of the MSM checked out the swiftboater’s stories they came to the same conclusion; that they were engaged in character assassination against Kerry. Truth was irrelevant.

it is just that some folks have character of a higher caliber than some others. Keep the faith.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

Of course it was character assasination - but it was based on TRUTH.

Gee, I guess it would be natural for a bunch of vets, who served with Kerry, who had their characters assassinated by Kerry, would want a little revenge. A taste of Kerry's own medicine. Everyone knows that Kerry's Congressional testimony was both politically motivated and less than truthful.

Tell me, what did these veterans have to personally gain from outing Kerry? NOTHING. What was their motivation? Revealing the TRUTH.

What did your liberal rags have to gain from discrediting the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth? The election of John Kerry.

And the TRUTH the Swift Boat Veterans revealed influenced the election results. And despite all of your assertions that the Swift Boat Vets were liars, the election results belie your feeble attempts. Give it up Jeff. That election is long past over.

I’ll grant that the swiftboater’s influenced the election but that is a long way from proving the attacks were true. The attacks on Kerry were revenge for his testimony before Congress pure and simple. I fault Kerry for not aggressively taking on the challenge. It will be harder to swiftboat the next candidate because they will have learned from Kerry’s mistake.

T. Boone Pickens recently offered $1 million to anyone who could disprove any of the allegations the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth. When Kerry took him up on his challenge, he reneged.

But I agree that election is over and I have no desire at all to revisit it.

And believe it or not I can leave you with a positive note about Spitzer: one less super delegate for Hillary.

I have watched the coverage all morning on both channels and rarely did they do what you claim above in your post. Yes, it was mentioned more than once but in no way was it said "all day". Bottom line - it is a sad day for Spitzers wife and his daughters, forget everything else. Everything else is pretty much insignificant in comparison. New York politics will go on just fine. The real damage is to a family. Hopefully he can get some help with what is most definately a problem and the marriage will be reconciled and foriveness and grace will prevail. He, his wife and daughters have their work cut out for them. I am one "conservative" that is not rejoicing today for a fallen democrat. So, Sage, get a life and stop trying to stir the pot on this.
