Disaster ahead for U.S. if Obama is elected

Recently the news is full of stories covering Barack Obama’s drive to be the Democratic Party’s nominee for president of the United States.

Can you imagine electing a guy who shows no allegiance to American values, shuns a display of the American flag, even as a lapel pin, and displays a picture of Communist mass murderer, Che Guevara, in his Houston, Texas campaign office?

He is also endorsed by Louis Farakhan, the black Muslim leader who despises white, Christian Americans.

I shudder to think of the disaster that will befall the United States if this combination of the radical left and America’s black Muslims take over our government.

When you can't fight the policy you attack the character. The latest diatribe is Obama's minister. Never mind that McCain's self proclaimed "spiritual guide" is Rod Parsley, and his "good friend" is John Hagee, both who have espoused hatred and bigotry. Why is that not an issue? Well, the politics of fear and hate are all that is left. Since it appears that Obama can't be stopped, then let the "swift-boating" begin.
Funny, I see all the yellow "support our troops" stickers on SUV's that suck gas at incredible rates. I don't have any "support our troops" slogans, etc. Does that make me "unAmerican?" Probably in your eyes. Instead I am retired military, I have a son serving in the military, and I bought a hybrid to reduce my gas usage. So why not start judging by what a person DOES, not what he wears on his lapel or what he slaps on his gas guzzling SUV.

Fear, hatred, and bigotry have brought us to where we are. Your words show the saddest and most unattractive side or our citizenry.
I CAN imagine Obama as President. Instead of wearing a flag lapel pin, he will work to get the troops home.

Question though, why do you think he "shows no allegiance to American values?" He wants peace, help for the poor, health care for all, economic success, working with foreign governments to improve our national character and stature, and a uniting of our citizens to pay down the enormous debt Bush has created. Are those NOT "American values?" I guess, given the last 7 years, no.

What makes me shudder is four more years of war, economic turmoil, rising national debt, loss of pay and benefits for our citizens, hatred and bigotry ruling the day.

Lapel pins don't make patriots, actions do. Wearing a flag or displaying yellow ribbons are simply for show, actions and policies, and ideas are what really count.

It's with a heavy heart that I see this horrible display of politics continue. What have we become as a nation after nearly 250 years? Thanks to Bush, Rove, et.al, we are simply a divided nation full of fear and hatred. How sad.

"no allegiance to American values"...

I'm sure you share many of the same values with him. You probably just disagree about how to promote them.

"shuns a display of the American flag, even as a lapel pin"

This just shows me he wants his actions to speak for his patriotism rather than a silly pin. It makes me feel like he's trusting me to judge his character rather than his ability to accessorize.

"Che Guevara"

This was in an unofficial campaign office.

"Endorsed by Louis Farakhan"

Can he control who endorses him? Of course Farakhan will endorse Obama. I'm sure the KKK would like for McCain to win. Should we hold that against him?

There are probably plenty of reasons to dislike Obama. Let's talk about what his policy stances are and what his voting record is. The rest is Tabloid clap-trap.

Your arguments are as valid as Republican Congressman Jack Kinston's. He went on Dan Abrams' show and said, "Senator Obama won't wear a flag lapel pin!"

Arby, Rep. Kingston DIDN'T HAVE ON A FLAG LAPEL PIN! This was a hillarious smack down administered by Mr. Abrams. And it makes republicans seem incredibly desparate.
