McCain's got the requisite feisty mother too. But the last time we elected a president based on a feisty mother and super-intelligent kids, we got Jimmy Carter.

Which, as any of the brownshirts on this site will tell you, began the downfall of Western Civilization as we knew it.

All I can say is, Cindy McCain (18 years younger than John, who threw the first Mrs. McCain overboard) would make a great First Cougar!

Uh, no, I didn't mean he LITERALLY threw her overboard. He and #1 were divorced a while after he returned to the US from 'Nam.

Interestingly, while McCain came home with physical scars, wife #1 also had been badly injured in a serious car wreck while he was gone. When he got back she was -- I am not making this up -- 4 inches shorter and somewhat heavier, according to reports.

It was obviously a complicated situation and the ex reportedly bears McCain no ill will. But by the time the marriage ended John was in hot pursuit of Cindy, a beer distributor heiress and an obvious looker....and, no doubt, a fine person.

Couldn't be a very good republican without at least 2-3 former wives,
Newt wrote the book on that!
Wives to them are like social security: they can do without the same one all the time.
