Stoplight proposed for Crosstown/Peachtree Pkwy.Tue, 02/05/2008 - 4:35pm

Walt Banks intersection would remain 4-way stop with increasing delays The Peachtree City Council is being asked to sign off on a plan to add more turn lanes and a traffic signal to the intersection of Peachtree Parkway and Crosstown Road. The recommendation also calls for additional turn lanes for the Parkway and Walt Banks Road, but no traffic signal. The consulting engineering firm hired by the city noted that a traffic signal at the Parkway and Walt Banks would be the ideal solution along with the proposed turn lanes, but added that the current four-way stop would still be “within the acceptable range” through 2007, despite increased delays and lower “level of service.” “A signal would also provide the safest environment for the golf cart crossings,” said the report from GCA, Inc. The additional turn lanes for Walt Banks and the parkway include right turn lanes on the westbound and northbound approaches and a left turn lane on the southbound approach. For the Crosstown Road/Parkway intersection, right turn lanes would be added to the northbound and southbound approaches and left turn and right turn lanes would be added to the eastbound and westbound approaches. login to post comments |
