These include:

"My Angry Turtle."

"When I Was Twelve A Turtle Bit Me"

"The Little Yertle Turtle that Could"

"Turtles are My Pond"

"The Woman Who Loved to Make Turtles Happy"

And others.

Each controversial monologue features turtles from one aspect or another, and presents them as tools of empowerment for amphibiphiles.

I am just puzzled about your church situation. I don't care about denominations, I care about a relationship with Christ.

So, what kind of church are you looking for? What kind of church were you in and did it change?

You don't have to reply- I know your belief in Christ.

Rich Mullins always amazed me with his in depth thoughts of Christ, life and the challenge before us. Are you like that. He did go to church, I don't know where.

I did admire him alot- I know everything he did was what Christ had given him- but with saying that if you did not know him- alot have said he appeared to be not friendly- but I knew his heart- his personality was a serious one- but could make you laugh as I showed you in the video.

Rich was the kinda guy, I think - in your face- I don't care what you think- He is real- this is real- do you know what I mean?

I do like Joel Osteen, I think he is a young pastor has alot of maturing to do, but God has spoken to me through him- what I am saying maybe he's not your style but mine.

Let me shoot these names and your tell me what you think

Chuck Swindoll- I hope I spelled that correct.
Charles Stanley, Andy Stanley, Greg Laurie, Max Lucadco, John Maxwell, Phillip Yancy, etc.

Go for it. Honest - what do you think?

Very frustrating. I just wrote a lengthy reply and then it was dumped when I tried to post it.

I'll try to duplicate it.

Joel Osteen: I dislike him not because of his style but because he either is substituting pop psychology for theology, or, when he waxes "theological" at all, it is absurd.

I once heard him suggest, "When you are going to the grocery and the space closest to the door opens up just as you get there, that is not coincidence. That happened because you have God's favor."

This is both empirically and biblically false. Empirically, I'll wager my salary that there is no difference between the "child of God" and your garden variety hedonist regarding their respective averages on hitting it lucky with prime parking spaces. Biblically, the "favor of God" stuff that he spoyuts is his own version of the "prosperity gospel" that characterizes most of the televangelists. I can think of few things ("Christian porn", maybe?) that are more foreign to the original teachings of Jesus than the idea that his followers will be rewarded with BMWs and six-figure incomes. The old word for this is "heresy."

I began to be disillusioned with church in the 1980s when the "Willow Creek Model" began to catch on like4 some sort of dreaded epidemic. The worship services turned into lame attempts at rock concerts. Theology was deemed too "cerebral" for the masses, so attention was shifted to more "practical" concerns. Emphasis is placed upon the "Jesus" of experience who, soi far as I can tell, is schizophrenic as his right hand seems noty to know what his left hand is doing. I go to these churches and my cynicism is honed to a fine, deadly point.

Now, had you asked me what I think about Billy Graham you would have heard something different. This man continues to command my deepest respect and admiration, as he never sold out, but stayed with the core message of Christianity throughout his ministry.

Have I told you that I was once a minister? Eye-wink

_

I think everyone respects "Billy Graham- did you see the leaders of the other countries on National Day of Prayer after 9-11. They all stood up and shook his hand.

Muddle, willow creek- ummm- what you call a rock concert, I worship God, honestly I do- it's healing for my soul. I don't think this style is for everyone, God gave us all different personalities, I think that is why we have different church, like I said my main goal is that you have a personal relationship with Christ. I do believe in my Baptist upbringing, but still there are some things we differ on.

I grew up Free- Will Baptist- do you know how long it took me to believe in eternal security- 10 years. I was miserable, I had to be good enough to go to heaven and I could not do it.

After being married several years to a southern baptist p.k., I went to our pastor and spoke with him about it he said- bpr you need to learn everything you can about GRACE.

10 years, sermons, reading the bible etc.

In what you think are rock concerts, my focus is Jesus- I praise him, truly praise him- it's all about Him and not about me. Not what am I going to get out of this service- but I have come to worship you, you are worthy to be praised.

Have you read 90 min. in heaven, please do- it is great, it did help me with the grieving part of my mom and sister- but it also gave me a picture that what I think heaven is really is.

I also read "Rebel With A Cause" Franklin Graham- excellent book.

It's kinda like you said reading a book by your favorite author,That God speaks to you, well God knew I loved music so much and He could speak to me through it daily- like little sermons. How do you think Rich wrote all those songs- he has a ton.Smiling

Well, there you go. . .I'll bet there are many of us who have become disillusioned with the church. How 'bout you go back to preachin' tell us when and where and bet you'd have a full house right off the bat.

Hope y'all are doing well.

"Jane," right?

Wouldn't that be a hoot?!

Yes, I began in theology and then just sort of gravitated towards philosophy. Two points about this: (a) People here should have been able to anticipate this from my posts over the past months, and (b) this is not at all uncommon.) I actually served as a pastor in a small country church for three years while I attended a seminary (those poor people!). This was just long enough to realize that I wasn't cut from the right cloth for it.

I still have strong theological interests, but my training in philosophy has caused me to dislike much that is obscure but passes for "insight" by theologians and preachers.

Yes, it would be a hoot. Seems so very many can talk a real pretty talk, but have proven they can't walk the walk. Somehow I think you'd be down to earth enough we might get something out of it!

How's the Mrs.

OK, then. I'm going to start my own cult. We'll call it "Muddlism." Since you are on the ground floor here, you can help to carve out the core doctrines.

The saints of Muddlism, to whom we pray, are Dopey, Grumpy, Happy, Doc, Sneezy, Bashful and Sleepy. Each has his own set of parishioners. Dopey, for example, is the patron saint of all those who are otherwise drawn to the televangelists. I pray to Bashful, myself.

We need a good myth to unify us. Something about ultimate origins.

Hey, if L. Ron Hubbard can do it, then why not me?

It may have been on this site, I don't remember, but I read somewhere that the Hubbard cult is the result of a bet made while he and a friend were high one night. If there is any truth to that story. . .heck yeah you can certainly start your own cult.

Perhaps the myth could be written by the masses - isn't there a game where someone starts the story and everyone in the room adds to it. I'll go with the beginning line ;^) There was once this surfer dude, and while riding an awsome wave, he saw the light . . .

Again, hope you and the wife are well.

I once visited the turtle compound on Cozumel, Mexico to see how badly a hurricane had wiped out the colony.

They had a tank full of the young little devils that when you picked them up to look at them, they would flap their flippers so hard that the flappers, or is it flippers? would heavily sting the back of your hands. Mean little creatures.

All the big turtles were "Gone With The Wind!"

What ever happened to "eight turtles" (ocho)?
