"Follow The River"

(And it will all be downhill, guaranteed)
Unless, of course you are going in the wrong direction!

A wall, similar to the "Great Wall Of China," (to keep out the robber hordes) is to be built (probably not)across our southern border to stop illegal immigration and dope smuggling.
The Roman's tried the same thing in England by building a wall (Hadrian's Wall) totally across England to keep out the dreaded Scots, and for tax collection purposes on trade. The Russians, when Communist, also built one between East and West Germany (Berlin Wall) to stop their citizens from escaping to the West.
We also once had an invisible Mason-Dixon wall in the USA.
NONE of these walls were worth building!

The proposed wall across the southern USA is too long to discuss all in one essay, so let's just discuss the one across Texas only. There was a good article by a Texan in some of our papers recently.
The border between Texas and Mexico is the River. Where ever it meanders, that is the border--the middle of the river that is! Even our government won't attempt to build a fence in the middle of a river, so they will have to condemn thousands of Texas acres, privately owned land, in order to build a reasonably straight-line wall. A wandering wall as a river wanders would be an engineering nightmare---so some land owners will lose thousands of acres. I won't explain that---you can figure it out! (I don't want to get into other technicalities here, but the Texans get their water from that river. Are we to pump and pipe that to their land and cattle and farms?)

The wall is to withstand a fully loaded truck at 40 MPH.
I don't suppose it will shoot down helicopters, plug up tunnels, or stop dynamite blasts however.
Do you know how long this is going to take, and at what cost--not to even consider the other 1,500 southern miles, with its own problems? Or the Canadian border, or the Gulf border, or our east and west coasts!

Where are we getting these strange people who propose such things? Even Televangelists couldn't come up with such tom-foolery if they tried!

Stop hiring non-citizens---tomorrow---and they will either register or go home, real quickly.

Yes, turtles are ok. However since we must build the big fence on our side of the river---we will cede all of the river and the turtles in it to the Mexicans!
No more turtle meat or soup--especially the hot-seasoned type!
A shame! We should never have given Mexico back to Mexico. Just think how large Texas would be then!
