Did anyone have a chance to attend the meeting on the 31st? If so, do you have an update on the progress of this project?

In the aerial photo "prelem2.pdf" it shows a big gray area with a bridge between the links golf course and mcdonough rd. Does that represent the current wetlands or some sort of new reservoir?

Anyways, thats for posting this info. IMHO, this seems like a giant waste of money. I never see traffic taking that general route that warrants such a massive undertaking. Seems like there is a lot better things they could use that money for. How about at least adding passing lanes on 92 south? Its a much longer road with a lot more traffic. Oh and those slloooooooooooooowwww poke spalding county drivers too.

I've looked and looked at the maps, but I'm still confused. The "wetlands" property backs up to my property. The questions I had regarding wetlands was answered with "the easterly direction off of County Line Road is to go around the wetlands" . . . what??????? If they are building a bridge, does that not mean they are going over something wet??? And what "wetlands" are on County Line Road at that particular point that need to be gone around? I don't mean to be politically incorrect, but it appears to me they are actually diverting easterly off County Line Road to avoid some very well-to-do folks on the west side of County Line Road. If you are familiar with the area you know who and where I'm talking about.

First, wetlands. As I understand it {and I am certainly no expert in this area} Federal wetlands would in many cases include floodplains as well as streams and "bogs". With our current drought, in many areas it is difficult to conceive of some areas as "wetlands", though they may be considered as such.

Second, the political "realities". It certainly appears that the proposed road "walks" Smiling east of where it might logically go. It does head east at the point where the road eases to the west, and that brings it more in line with Corinth Road. I have viewed a number of road projects in Fayette County over the years, and I have come to realize that logic plays a very small role in determining the final outcome of the project. All I can say, is voice your opinion when possible and encourage your friends and neighbors to do the same, then hope for the best. Keep the faith.

Its labeled"DOT Mitigation site". But I dont really know what that means.
The 4 lane road is not being buit due to too much traffic in the area. Its supposed to give people a route around Fayetteville.
The idea is to give people headed to Atlanta an alternate road to ease traffic in Fayetteville.
I'm sure as soon as its done someone will come along and put a grocery store on the corner of the new 4 lane and McDonough road.
But I guess that will further eliminate trafic going into Fayettville . Right ? Smiling

Yes, I went and it was not a formal meeting with questions and answers but a series of blown up pictures showing where the proposed road will go , a handout with the proposal and worthless maps(all type is too small to read), and DOT personel walking around answering questions.
The handout gave the address www.dot.ga.us. then click on Public Outreach, select Fayette and East Fayette Bypass.
There you will find areial pics with proposed road and all affected property owners clearly marked, and a chance to comment on the project.
