The Fayette Daybreak Rotary Club had the privilege of honoring Officer Shawn Albe, the 2007 Tyrone Police Officer of The Year during a ceremony at the clubs regular Thursday morning meeting on January 24. This distinction has special meaning as it was bestowed upon Officer Albe by a vote of his peers in the police force. Tyrone Police Chief Brandon Perkins praised Officer Albe as "a man who loves his job, the citizens he protects, and his community" as well as a manager's dream employee. This honor is especially significant as Officer Albe only recently joined the Tyrone police force in May of 2007. Prior to this he worked for the Fayette County Marshall's office for three years.

Officer Albe's love of his job comes from knowing that he spends his days helping fellow citizens. Every day brings new challenges, opportunities to meet new people, and the satisfaction that he made a positive difference in his community.

After the recognition ceremony, Chief Perkins shared aspects of his 5 year strategic plan with the club. Chief Perkins plans to build a stronger relationship between the police force and the community through introduction of several community involvement and outreach programs over the next two years. Chief Perkins will be presenting his plan to the Tyrone Town Council for approval over the next several weeks and then will move immediately towards implementation.

In addition to providing recognition for public servants in the schools, police force, fire department, and town staff, the Fayette Daybreak Rotary Club supports a variety of local, national, and international charities including the Fayette Care Clinic, Rainbow House, Promise Place, and Alzheimer research. The club meets every Thursday at 7:15am at the Original Pancake House in the Staples Shopping Center at the intersection of Hwy 74 and Hwy 54 in Peachtree City. Visitors are always welcome.

I don't know Officer Albe but congratulations to him for this special recognition. Based on Chief Perkins' comments, Tyrone is fortunate to have you as one their finest.
