Did you make it to the open house/question meeting for the East Fayette Bypass last evening? Your thoughts??

I was working and unable to go, but I do have the informational sheet that was available. Haven't had a chance to read through it yet. Just wondering what you may have come away with.

It's Friday, enjoy!!!!!

It's too bad you missed it! They seemed to have a pretty good turnout. There is a sheet in your packet for comments. You really should fill it out and turn it in.

They had large maps in sets of three set up in three locations around the room. It showed the proposed road. This is just a proposal, so PLEASE speak up about it! The road goes from S. Jeff Davis at Inman/ County Line and peels off at County Line before McDonough going through undeveloped land; across 54 to 85; through a small portion of Clayton County.

I hate it. It will be more much expensive to build a road through undeveloped land than to widen existing roads. The open green land we all love will be mowed down. The trees bulldozed, etc. Our 'backyard', our home, will be swiftly put on the path to another Riverdale/Hwy 85 or paved over entirely Gwinnett County. It will bring more, oh so much more, development in and take away the purpose for the road. That purported purpose is to relieve traffic through downtown Fayetteville. Instead, the evil developers will see a brand new 4 lane with pristine property all around it and the shopping centers and industrial parks and "don't stick your elbow out, you'll poke me in the eye" residential developments will overwhelm us in yet another untouched part of our lovely county.

There are not a great many property owners involved in this proposal, as they are mostly large AG spaces. If the road were to continue down County Line, cross McDonough, and head toward 85 via McElroy, etc. - granted many homes will be affected; however, more people will care about and have a say in what goes in around the bypass as more people will be affected by the developers $$ signs. It will remind us of the 74 widening, I'm sure, but I like the long term consequences much much better.

Ready for the blogger attacks.....GO

Zoe

I too wish I could have attended this session. I totally agree with all that you have said. And my question from the beginning has been why not widen County Line Road. I will absolutely be filling out the comments page. One question, I heard that there is somewhere online that you can pull up a map, that you can clearly see and read, do you know where/what that is? The only maps I have been able to find are so tiny I can't tell exactly where proposed road will be.

you can find maps that will blow up to show you the route. Keep the faith.
