I've been in exactly his place before and find that I must sympathize.

But I liked the moment when he had just lapsed, woke up, and then nodded his head as though he agreed with the point just made.

You can't quite see whoever is seated to his left (behind the preacher). Is it Hillary? Apparently he was just out of range of a good elbow jab--the traditional implement for waking snoozing husband's in church.

How did your better half do today? I hope everything went well. Did they let her come home?

Thanks. OK but not great. She feels like she's been mowed down by a Mack Truck, and we're not certain that the problem was completely resolved by what was done.

Mercy.

We may be here for a few days.

I was in Jerusalem today. One of the prayers I left in the wall was for Lynn.

How cool! Thanks!

Now, if you're facing the wall, down to your left there should be some restrooms. The men's restroom features a rather accomodating urinal, which amounts to a long, low stone wall with a trough at the bottom.

When I was there with a bunch of college buddies, we dubbed it the "Weeing Wall."

Mrs. Muddle is doing as well as might be expected after being under the knife. I'm a bit reticent to share much more detail in this forum than I already have, but the aim was to eliminate the chances of a recurring infection once and for all. The surgeon basically suggested that he did not find enough of a source of the infection really to merit the trauma of surgery (as opposed to some less invasive procedures). But I was able to ask today whether he has any positive reason to think that there are other problem areas that were beyond his reach. He said no.

We fully expect her to grow stronger from this surgery and get to go home in a couple of days.

Thank you to everyone for the very touching expressions of concern and support.

I re-read your post. They have urinals on that wall now. But the grate is still there.

and she will grow stronger.

Yes, I was in the same one and it's just how you described it. We had lots snow in Jerusalem today. I'm glad I had dry clothes to change into. My flight leaves in about 4 hours. I arrive tomorrow morning at 0600.

This is just the first day. We will get all of these prayer chain people working. She has the best medical care, get some sleep and keep your strength up too. You are in my thoughts, I hope you can all go home by the end of the week.

Submitted by sageadvice on Wed, 01/30/2008 - 11:37am.

What is that and does it work?
I hear of a lot of that but none seems to work.
I don't pray in public as the good book says!

You really are a butthead! Do you ever have a positive word? I believe you just enjoy being the devil's advocate and pushing whatever button it takes to get folks going. Well, you are very good at it; and I must say if/when I read your comments they are always negative and usually do set some of us off.

Prayer chain, if I were you, I wouldn't admit that I was that stupid to have to ask. Does it work - heck yes it does, except as Sky point out in your case, 'cause you are still here!

Prayer chains do not involve praying in public, dummy.

What a sad little man you must be.

He is something else isn't he.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Maybe if I tithe more?? Do I actually have to go to church or can I send the money with my neighbor who goes every week?

We've all had to deal with a devil's advocate somewhere along the line in our lives - they sky is blue, Noooooo; water is wet - Nooooo; etc. They just enjoy taking the opposite stance of whatever is being said. I'm thinking if we'd all just quit responding to "them", perhaps they could just talk amongst themselves!

You may have to put more money in the plate!! LOL!

Prayer Chains

Hmmm, I'm not sure if they really work or not, lets see:

Are you still breathing? All 4 or 5 of you?

ooopppsss would this be considered bad karma? Just thinking out loud.

Submitted by sageadvice on Wed, 01/30/2008 - 4:16pm.

Must have hit a nerve there! Praying for someone's death must be pleasing to God, (Jesus), as bpr says. Don't know which one is her personal God, God, or Jesus? I know you are going to say, "you know what she really means," but I don't, and don't really have to do so.

My Grandfather, when I was about 4-6, would take me into the dark basement--behind the old coal furnace, and pray softly nearly every week.
I don't remember, if I ever knew, what he said but I have thought of my wishes to the evident Creator in that way ever since.
When I see or talk to someone personally, who is in peril or great need, I feel they usually know that I am on their side by our talk!
I have little use for the street shouters or mass gatherings which in masses of human screeching, act as if they can get attention by such actions! I think it pacifies only their ego, myself.
This sort of ranting is what the founders of modern Russia preached upon setting up Communism and socialism: let the peons have their loud worship and self gratification, using our rules, and maybe the opiate of such religion will soothe their souls as would an assurance of heaven.

Making everyone who doesn't agree with your religious thoughts out to be the devil is a mistake you may regret. You should not need others assurances all of the time to feel comfortable, and if you do--make a change.

If you already know all you want to know about democrats and republicans and such other unimportant stuff, then go be a Monk.

I do know who my God is- Jesus is God's Son to pay the price on the cross so we could have forgiveness for our sins. There's the trinity- God The Father, God The Son, God The Holy Spirit.

By the way regardless of what you say or think God created you and thinks you have value.

I was asking you to please be nice to the Muddles, this is a difficult time.

I was a little over the top with my sarcasm there.

You go out of your way to irritate and critcize everyone. You have to use your criticism sparingly, it will be more effective. Even though I do not go to church myself, I do believe in God and I know that many churches have prayer chains. They have many people who sign up to be on a call list to pray for someone in need.

I don't know muddle except from here online. He seems like a kind soul. When I hear of kind souls in need, I pray, and I ask others to do the same.

Because you irritate so many, we have treated you harshly. For that I apologize. I heard this old saying somewhere and it seems appropriate now: "Those that seem to deserve love and friendship the least actually need it the most". This post is to inform you that you have been added to a prayer chain list.

I wish you the best.

Submitted by sageadvice on Wed, 01/30/2008 - 7:11pm.

All I'm asking is that people consider those things that are true and to not do things unconsciously.
To gett that reaction sometimes calls for harsh, direct facts and not mish-mash.
Some need irritating, some need criticism. I know I do some.

You have been missing for 2 hours. Anyway I left you a message above. I do wish you the best.

Please don't you have a heart? I know God gave you one. Please stop being so cruel to someone who is such pain and concern.

What do you do when something happens in your life that is hard, and I know it does.

Yes, I do believe- God(Jesus) hears my prayers, I have a personal relationship with him.

My heart goes out to Muddles and Mrs. Muddle- it is hard for me to understand how you can be this way. BTW- I even pray for you- because

Let's keep Mrs. Muddle at the top of your lists. Read Muddle's notes above......get busy. The first day is rough after surgery, he sounds tired....he needs us. Let's hope for complete recovery and home by the end of the week.

I will pray and will not stop. The bible says pray without ceasing.
I am doing that. I will write more later- I'm off to work- I will write more later. Remember you are not alone- God is with you- we care more than you know.
