Bombs for a bully: PTC arrests 2 SMHS teensTue, 01/29/2008 - 5:03pm

Two teenagers’ retaliation for alleged bullying blew up and injured a postal worker last Saturday, police said. An explosive device had been placed in a mailbox in south Peachtree City, the second such device made by the two teens who meant the bombs for a Starr’s Mill High School bully, police said. The postal employee was treated for a minor chemical burn and an inhalation injury, police said. The incident came a day after a potential explosive device was found on the porch of the same residence: 102 Linden Lane in the Foreston Place subdivision, police said. Clayton County’s Explosive Ordinance Disposal team detonated the mailbox bomb successfully with no further injuries being reported, police said. Two juveniles, ages 15 and 16, were arrested in connection with the incident, police said. Both were charged with manufacturing an explosive device, and they were released to their parents with conditions that must be met, officials said. The first device was thrown on the porch of the residence “to scare a 17-year-old who resides there and to retaliate against him,” police said. “I just think they really weren’t thinking about the consequences of their actions,” said Maj. Mike DuPree of the Peachtree City Police Department. The juveniles, both students at Starr’s Mill High School, accused the intended victim of bullying and told police that was the reason for planting the devices. That story has not yet been confirmed, DuPree said. The explosive devices were made from common items found around the home, police said. login to post comments |
