I read the article you linked to and am having a hard time why you feel the arrangement is somehow "indefensible". It would appear that America's last real leader, Bill Clinton, entered into a five year contract in 2002. He was compensated during the contract, the contract expired and was not renewed, and he is negotiating an end-of-contract settlement per the terms of his contract.

Am I missing something here?

Hitlary and Bill milked if for all it is worth and then some and they still are. Case in point: As you know, the Clintons had to establish residence in New York for Hillary to run for the Senate. So they bought that big house -- BUT there was no place for Secret Service which has statuary responsibility to protect the First Family. So, a special 'safe area' was built. NOW, the Clintons are charging them rent! It just happens that their rent is about same amount as their mortgage payment! SO, we taxpayers pay for the Secret Service addition, AND the Clinton's mortgage. What will it take for the American public to wake up.

There is enough dirt on this couple with Whitewater, Travelgate, Paula Jones-Gate, Gennifer Flowers Gate, Obstruction of Justicegate, Losing the Law Liscensegate, Pardongate, etc. ad nauseum.
