Tyrone's Semi-Secret Meeting

At last Thursday nights Town Council meeting silence about an upcoming called council meeting the very next Thursday was the order of the night. Sometime after the Council meeting a small notice was place on the bulletin board at Town Hall notifying the public of a called council meeting. When it was posted no one knows since Monday was a holiday for the Town staff; (but Mayor Rehwaldt was at Town Hall on Monday, could he be the poster of the notice?). It is simply amazing the lengths this group will go to avoid citizen input. The charter is the Town’s constitution and the citizen should have the right to review any changes and have their say. Unfortunately, it appears that this group is planning on railroading their ideas through in a special called meeting regardless of the lack of citizen input. What are these charter changes that are so critical that they can not be done at a regular scheduled council meeting? Why did the council not announce that they were planning on holding this meeting at the regular council meeting and explain why? When a group gets into power and starts changing the constitution it is normally for their benefit and not for the citizens; (maybe Don is proposing to change the charter to make himself Mayor for life? No one knows). Again, this group ran on open government and accountability, obviously just election rhetoric.

Ithascometome, if you are going to attack someone in a feable attempt to defend an elected official, at least learn how to spell the name of the elected official you are defending; it is Rehwaldt not Renwald. If yo ever have any facts, please post them but your rantings seem very b....bearish. You have got to lay off of the kool-aid.

I wonder what Benjamin Rush would have to say about that?

"If yo? ever have any facts, please post them?" I think plenty of facts...HAVE... been posted, you just ignore them. Well let me give you a fact, I'm not in office of any kind, and I HAVE seen the town charter and it is awful! It was in a folder, I was let look at it by Barry. No page numbers! No index, nothing! I feel it was put together that way so that people would give up trying to make heads or tells of it and Barney and Thelma would be the only ones to interpret the Holy Grail.

Another FACT....you've had hearing after hearing and not posted signs on the land in question so people would know. NO? How bout the land between the schools on Jenkins road? That happened twice and would have cost the taxpayers millions when the school lost its buss turn and track to erosion. I believe that was on you 'watch'.

FACT...our taxes are higher than anywhere else in the county. Why? I thought in all your years, and being a pro bean counter, you may have an answer for us by now.

Now for a rumor or two...the town has ...NOT... been getting all these awards for their audit as you keep saying. They got one...in 2002. and it was something akin to a boyscout badge for a tidy bed making job. Since that time there has been reports of info being incomplete.

Another rumor, because I have not availed myself of the towns rec department etc. Some say there is a eye bugging, jaw dropping sign there....cash only! That cash only goes through several sets of hands. Cash is always hard to track, and and audit is not gonna find it. I have heard the new group is gonna make sure no cash is taken. You see credit cards and checks ...do ...leave a paper trail Mr Bean counter. Those show up in an audit...This is what the new group wants, accountability for every dollar. CC cost us, but even if you have to pay 10%, it is better than 10% of nothing!

I have also heard that the police dep has given cash to the town for deposit and not always given a receipt. Then I have last but not least heard, the town doesn't make daily deposits. Now that is unusual for a business. Where does the money stay over night? Do employees take it home with them and sleep with it under their pillow? This is all just rumor that us over goaded taxpayers have heard and we don't know if there is truth to it. But the new groups idea of making all money accountable for, certainly meets with my approval. How bout you Mr Bean counter?

And then there are those pesky little rumors that won't go away about the rest of us, and there are a lot, that don't have sewer. That our tax dollars have been going to help pay the sewer bill for those that do. That is not legal...or did you not know that?

Money collected for occupational taxes are by law supposed to be accounted for separately and spent only for the cost of administration and collection. And if a surplus exists at the end of the year it is supposed to be applied to a reduction in the tax. Barry’s budget never reflected the amount of these taxes. This Tax law also carries a penalty of imprisonment. The Occupational Tax law was passed on Smola’s “watch” in 2004. Improperly handling money also by State law carries a penalty of imprisonment. That’s why all of you are so damn scared of the audit.

righteous defender of ethical government since the statements of facts and rumors that happened on ..THE WATCH..

I'm sick of this going back and forth...put your money where your mouth is, as they use to say...or...you may just sit tight and shut up and wait for the audit.

You remind me of a little tizze fly....why are you sooo in a rush to judgement against people who just got in office...?

Everyone gave you a chance didn't they? A lllloooooonnnnnggg long chance...and ...you blew it didn't you? Show shut up and wait...is that so hard..?

You have gone completly nuts! They talked about the Charter at the last meeting, that it was a mess, and that they had one copy and the one the state had for us was totaly different! Once they get something together that looks like the person who wrote it wasn't on crack, they will present it at the next meeting to be approved. Let me guess, your gonna be up there front and center this Thursday to tell them how you think it should be written, right?

Everytime you mention Renwald up there, I keep thinking we are really getting our monies worth. Also, I keep wondering if he is safe with you up there lurking in the bushes.

It killed you when Gloria and Grace got elected, it killed you when you didn't get your way with Shamrock park, and then it really killed you when the only votes you got for Mayor was the pity votes you got hanging on Dial's coat tails. Wow, didn't take him long to figure out he was being used did it?

Now you are outraged about the audit..If I were a bean counter for a living, and bragged about being on town council where I worked. I would shut up about the audit and try to distance myself. You will be the laughing stock at work if Tyrone's books don't jive. They are going to be wondering about how you bragged at being a big wig in Tyrone and then you sat there like a pig in do do and let the books get sooo screwed up...I would go quietly into the night...and if anyone asked, I would say they were confused, it was Tucker, or Tyler, ga I had been on council of...not Tyrone, never heard of it.

It you don't quit looking like an embarrassment, if your company merges, you just may find that you get transferred to Fijji and you are given notice to be there in 4 hours, or else!

The reason for the special council meeting is that the town attorney saw that Ginger is in her 5th year on planning and has exceeded her term limits. 4 years of violating Tyrone law is too much. They have to get rid of her immediately.

more like smoke and mirrors. Ms. Blackstone has nothing to do with the meeting. I am sure she is not interested in staying where there are many questionable ethics problems.

I can remember very well being at a planning committee during your 'watch' when someone had caught you guys changing the layout of a subdivision that would effect her property. It seems your group signed off on extra lots that were not approved by planning or council, nor were there signs posted on the property. The woman said she was gonna sue if it wasn't backed up and go through proper channels so she could have some say so.

She was suppose to have 3 minutes to speak, Ms Blackstone cut her off after 1 1/2 minutes, several people were timing. The woman was cut short by Ms Blackstone telling her if she didn't like seeing other people's houses, go find herself 40 acres in the county somewhere.
She was as arrogant as you.

The subdivision you guys bullied through was for a former planning member turned developer. That subdivision is now in foreclosure and the few houses sold, did so for hundred of thousands less than was asked.

In my eyes, I saw nothing ethical on your watch and nothing to brag about either. That goes for Blackstone too, good riddance to both

You seem to be scared s.......ss of an audit...all the rest of us can think is...bring it on!

Once upon a time there was a happy little Town. Then one day some big bad wolves came and took over their little Town Hall. Then everyone became afraid, particularly elderly ladies, and they were so so unhappy. This went on for 10 years, until one day the wolves were run off by some brave people. Now people are happy again and no one is afraid anymore, except the wolves because of the audit. Sleep good children.

ConfushaSay to townspeople. Beware of wolves in sheeps clothing and don’t ever forget it.
