Three Fayetteville businesses have been broken into after hours recently as burglars have been targeting flat screen televisions, police said.

The burglars smashed their way into Partner’s Pizza, Rooms to Go and also a barbershop, said Police Lt. Steve Crawshaw. In each case a burglar alarm was set off, but the suspects had fled the scene when officers arrived.

The burglars left the Rooms to Go without stealing any televisions, but two were taken from Partners Pizza, Crawshaw said. The sheriff’s department worked the barbershop incident although the business is in Fayetteville due to some initial confusion about whether it was in the unincorporated county instead, he added.

Police are visiting businesses and advising them to make sure their doors are locked and the burglar alarms are set, Crawshaw said.

Residents are also asked to keep an eye out for suspicious activity, particularly in terms of anyone lurking around a business after hours, Crawshaw said. Such sightings should be reported to 911 or the department’s non-emergency phone number at 770-461-4441, Crawshaw said.
