New Tyrone town manager Chris Venice has a two-year contract with her new employer.

Mayor Don Rehwaldt confirmed that Venice will be paid $97,000 a year in her post, and would receive three months in severance if the town decides to terminate her employment.

In April 2007, Venice received a one-year severance package of $128,000 plus insurance coverage after being asked to resign as Fayette County Administrator. Venice had worked for the county for more than 20 years and served in a variety of jobs, from planning and zoning director to director of the county’s community development division. She became the county administrator in August,2005 after serving in the position for a six-month interim after former County Administrator Chris Cofty was dismissed.

Rehwaldt also confirmed that attorney Bill McNally will be paid $150 an hour for legal services.

“It’s a little more than we were paying, but we feel it’s worth it for his experience,” he added.

In July, the Fayette County Commission replaced McNally’s law firm with an in-house attorney. McNally had been the county’s attorney for more than 30 years.

I need to become a con..., I mean politician or at least work for one. If I was asked to resign / fired from my job, my company would not give me such sweet severance packages, I chose the wrong line of work by being in the private sector. Of course I couldn't keep a straight face like these politicians and their croonies do.
