Git Real's picture

Detective Mike and Family,

May God cure you of your illness. Know that Mrs. Git and I will have you and your family in our prayers daily. "To His glory" is the prayer your dad asked us to pray. So be it... regardless of the results. God bless!

Thanks for your years of service to our community and the protections you aided in providing to all our families.

I would like to thank all of you who have prayed for the recovery of my husband. The response to his illness has been overwhelming. All visits, phone calls and cards have touched our entire family and are greatly appreciated.
On November 4th, Mike was diagnosed with Stage IV RCC (Renal Cell Carcinoma, aka Kidney Cancer). His kidney and affected lymph nodes were removed on November 27th. The prognosis was good and Mike felt fine until he developed a "cough" around December 10th. After three weeks of doctor visits a CT scan, on January 7th, confirmed the "cough" was actually RCC that had spread to both lungs. The oncologist was shocked and stated he had seen only one other case where the cancer spread this fast. Mike is currently receiving Chemo treatments weekly, but the oncologist said there is currently no cure for this disease.
For those of you who have had the privilege of knowing my husband, you know he has never given up on anything in his life. Mike's faith is strong and we know God is in control.
Cancer is a nasty disease that knows no boundaries. Our family is certainly not the first to endure this heartache, and unfortunately won't be the last. To those of you who have been affected by cancer, my heart and prayers go out to you, too.
Thank you for your continued support and prayers for our family,
Dianna Pruitt

Did I miss something? I clearly understand what you are saying, but what exactly are we praying for?

Jane,

Mike is battling cancer in his lungs. I was intentionally vague as I didn't think it right for me to give out more details than that. My hope is that someone who knows him well, will keep us informed. I do know he has many friends, a wonderful set of parents, and a tremendous amount of support from his law enforcement family.

Git

I kinda felt you were being intentionally vague. At any rate, many of us will be thinking of and praying for Mike. Thanks.
