Crystal Weigle, a McIntosh graduate playing lacrosse for the University of Georgia’s women’s team, will bring her teammates to Peachtree City’s Meade Field on Saturday, Jan. 19 for a lacrosse clinic. It is a way to introduce girls to the sport, which is rising in popularity all over the south, and also a way for Weigle to help give back to a lacrosse community that she adores.

“I really want to give back to all of the coaches and parents who have coached and encouraged me over the years,” said Weigle. “Bringing opportunities like this to Peachtree City will hopefully grow the sport and I hope getting to meet the UGA players and coaches will inspire more girls to continue to play in college. For girls who are just beginning, it is a fantastic opportunity to learn a little bit more about lacrosse and improve their skills.”

The UGA women’s team is ranked ninth in the nation, and members of the team will be instructing girls of middle school and high school age of various skill levels. The team’s coaches will also offer a coaches clinic for interested parents and coaches. Towards the end of the clinic, the coaches and players will get to try their new skills in a series of scrimmage games.

The players clinic will last from 12-4 p.m. and the coaches clinic will last from 2-4 p.m. Registration will start at 11 a.m. The fee for the clinic is $40.

All participants are reminded to please come equipped with stick, cleats, water, mouthguard and goggles.

Parents and players can find out more information and download the registration forms at http://georgia.ialax.com.

This is not a fact.UGA womans program plays on the club level and not in the NCAA division. They may rank 9th on the club level but that places them at least 92nd in the country as there are 83 Division 1 programs ahead of UGA.
