The Bush "Legacy"

DragNet's picture

America is in deep trouble. How did we get into this mess?

Consider the following highlights of the legacy we are receiving from this disgraced president:

a) The first president to allow torture of prisoners in U.S. custody.

b) Guantanamo, a true embarrassment for human rights.

c)The worst CIA administration showcased by fake weapons of mass destruction and misreading of the nuclear threat by Iran.

d) 20 million illegal immigrants unaccounted for (how many of these would be Al Qaeda sleeper cells?)

e) Border security that is a joke.

f) The $100 oil barrel (gas was $1.35 a gallon when Bush inaugurated his mandate)

g) The value of the dollar going to the pits. It is only a matter of time for the Euro to become the preferred currency for international transactions.

h) During Dubya's watch, China becomes a superpower, meaning the end of American economic supremacy.

i) The prestige and appreciation of the U.S.A. in the world is the lowest ever. We have less friends than ever.

j) An unnecessary war with no end in sight, a constant bleeding of $$ and our best men, aggravated by a despicable mistreatment of our veterans.

k) A recession in 2008 forced by a banking crisis brought about by the subprime loans meltdown.

l) The worst Attorney General I can think of (remember Gonzo?)

m) A federal deficit that can only be measured in the trillions of dollars.

And so on and so on....of course, Dick Cheney and Halliburton may beg to disagree ($$$$)

Huckabee, Obama, Giulani, Edward or Clinton, please take note. We need a president with "cojones" to get us back to the standing America deserves and leave this nightmare behind.

Bush, the worst U.S. president ever (or at least, the worst I can remember in my lifetime, which is to say much)

Happy Birthday! 51 is not old! Smiling

Re: another subject..I have a scanner, and this morning I heard a call that a 42 year old woman was having severe stomach pain. She has a history of colon cancer. The family had been to Piedmont Fayette Hospital, waited 4 hours, wasn't seen by a doctor. Apparently they came back home then had to call for help. I heard a similar story from one of my neighbors last week.

I hope Mrs. Muddle is doing good! Smiling

Honestly, Bush won twice I think alot more people than you thought he is doing a great job or he would not have won. This does not have a thing with if I am one party or the other. Some will vote for their party just because that's what you do- Not me, I look at both parties. Do you? I already know that answer.

Torture- what are you talking about, these other countries don't have any regard for life. BTW- I think Bush values life- he's against abortion.

What are you going to do if Huckabee gets President? Move to another country?

Lily, Lily, Lily. If you still believe that the United States is not torturing prisoners you haven't been paying attention. Try expanding your horizons beyond Fox News every now and then.

Honestly, Bush won twice I think alot more people than you thought he is doing a great job or he would not have won. This does not have a thing with if I am one party or the other. Some will vote for their party just because that's what you do- Not me, I look at both parties. Do you? I already know that answer.
Bush won twice, but I think most people would question whether he won that first election "honestly". Only 25% or so of America still think he is doing a good job, so you should consider yourself in a distinct minority. Like you, I vote for the best candidate. For example, I proudly voted for Republican Steve Brown in the election last month, as you already knew.

Torture- what are you talking about, these other countries don't have any regard for life. BTW- I think Bush values life- he's against abortion.
So, are you saying we should lower ourselves to other countries level? Whatever happened to setting the moral standard for other countries?

What are you going to do if Huckabee gets President? Move to another country?

I pray every night for Mike Huckabee to get the Republican nomination...having a socially conservative, fiscal liberal like Huckabee in the election would guarantee a landslide Democratic victory!

I love my country and the soliders that protect us- and the ones that have served before- I honor them. Do You? It does not sound like it.
Lily, once again you get nasty. You routinely question the faith and patriotism of those you disagree with. For your information, I am a proud veteran of the United States Army.

Well said. Unfortunately, many well-intentioned people let patriotism and religion undermine their reason. You cannot influence their opinion because it is not based on logic and facts. They will hold on tight to it like Linus' blanket. If you call into question people whose actions seem to harm rather than help this country, you are guilty of choosing "them " over "us". "My country, right or wrong" is an asinine and patently unamerican way to look at the world. Right is right, and wrong is wrong.
I admire you fighting this fight, but I fear it is an unwinnable one as long as people refuse to question their own beliefs.

Thank you for serving. But now, I am curious. What service? What era? And how long did you serve?

Personally, I try to make it a habit of not questioning folk's patriotism. Because two patriots can have a reasoned debate and differ in their opinions. It is not necessary to question a person's patriotism. Because their true motives usually reveal themselves in their words.

If you have the time, please read my post above as to how when we waterboard our detainees, we can no longer fault other nations (like Iran) who may one day waterboard men or women I serve with. This is a sad reality to me Lilly. You can attempt to defend this all you want, but the people who have authorized torture by calling it "aggressive interrogation" never have to worry about being subjected to it.

Lilly, why do you think heroes like John McCain are so adamantly opposed to practices we have authorized? Why do you think the man you mentioned, Mike Huckabee, has called President Bush's administration arrogant and " a bunker mentality?" Honest answer please.

It sickens me that conservatives, like you, only place value on fetal life and therefore, end up voting for idiots like Bush and most likely, Huckabee. That is the evangelical, and your, litmus test for a presidential candidate - their stance on abortion. How can you be so narrow minded?

Bush DOES NOT value REAL life. He has contributed to the slaughter and murder of not only our soldiers, but innocent Iraqi lives as well. And yes, those lives are valuable also. Here is the latest body count:

Is this why "ambulance chasing lawyers" is not the GOP mantra this year as it was in 2004 when the lawyers were on the democratic side of the aisle? Why do republicans attack professions in this way, as opposed to judging each person on their merrits? I've never gotten that phenomenon.

Submitted by skyspy on Mon, 01/07/2008 - 6:07pm.

Wicca is not the occult. They are 2 different religions. They are as different as Hinduism and Christianity. Stop showing your ignorance and your hate.

"They will know we are christians by our love"...

Making fun of what other people believe in isn't going to win them over.

Submitted by lilly on Mon, 01/07/2008 - 6:36pm.

Wicca believes in witchcraft which is occult- it was not out of hate- you don't even know the guy who did the video? Do some research on Carman and his beliefs, believe me this guy loves everyone- just like me he wants the truth revealed. I wasn't making fun- letting him know his wicca is nonsense and honestly how does he call that Christian.
Different bible, different beliefs, check into it- I don't hate this person but he stands for what he believes in and is it okay for him to knock my belief, I don't think so.

You are right Hinduism and Christianty are so different- ONE GOD- people would like to think they could live as they choose, hey God wrote the bible, inspired the men in the bible to write it, it's His Word not mine.

I do love this person- as I said before do research on
Carman and his ministry and you will see what he stands for- hint he's a Christian. It's not something I yanked off you tube- I know this guy and there is not anyone who wants to reach the world for Christ. All it said was what wicca is- and how as a Christian you handle when wicca trys to come against you.

Research Carman

Submitted by skyspy on Mon, 01/07/2008 - 10:24pm.

Witchcraft or wicca is a pagan religion with believes in the healing power of mother earth. For example Dec. 25 was originally a pagan "holiday" honoring mother nature and winter solstice. (it was later when the christians hijacked it for their holiday celebration) They believe that earth can heal itself. I met someone who is a member of this wicca religion and that is what they told me. No, I do not practice this religion, I have no first hand knowledge.

People who believe in the occult, believe in satan and they believe he has power over God. They do not believe in anything positive good or peaceful. That is the difference between the two. People who practice occult commit crime. I think if memory serves charles manson was practicing occult.

I don't believe in either religion. I have very limited knowledge of either one. However, from what I have read occult and people who practice it are pure evil.( the previous statement does not reflect the opinions of the staff @ the citizen, they are skyspys opinions only)

From what little I know the 2 religions are very different.

Submitted by lilly on Tue, 01/08/2008 - 1:21pm.

Wicca is not a God (Jesus) thing. If you read the bible well depending on which one you read you will know that the only way to God is through Jesus- Please don't be deceived, I'm not a preachy type just a concerned about people and their morals and what they think God is- Main always has up something to try and get Christians- (those of us who believe in Jesus- God's Son up as a avatar) I have not said anything.

You think I don't care, I do- They have to know they believe this, they did not say you are wrong. I did not do it out of mean spirit, just to point out- Wicca is not of God- a FALSE GOD or SOMETHING YOU CALL GOD. You think I don't care about this person, well you don't know me- I have read this for so long it was time to speak.

Do your research on Wicca, please explain to me how the earth can heal itself means? I don't get that.

Do I expect everyone to believe as I do, no they are not, but you don't see me trying to get people angry but putting up avatars that offend them on purpose.

Please do your research on this Wicca, don't take someone's word- the guy in the video Carman has dealt with these things for over 20 years, I did not just believe because he said so, I believe because I did research and what the bible says- well mine anyway. Wicca either way you look at it is not a God thing. I leave in peace.

Submitted by skyspy on Tue, 01/08/2008 - 1:56pm.

I know people who practice wicca or believe it, do not believe in your God. I do not believe in wicca either. It is a pagan religion. What I understand of it (which isn't much) is what I was told by a friend. I'm an environmentalist, I believe that our natural resources were a gift from God and we are abusing them. That is a topic for another time.

My point was wicca and occult are two different things. Occultist think that satan is God. They commit lots of crime in the name of satan. They are pure evil and they believe that evil will triumph over good. I think they are wrong.

I'm not deceived by anyone. That includes preachers some of whom are wolves in sheeps clothing, like crapflow (muddles term of endearment, and very accurate) dollar.

Before I place my belief in anything, I try analyze it carefully. I know you mean well. You are repeating what your church has told you.

Submitted by lilly on Tue, 01/08/2008 - 2:30pm.

Please know I do mean well, it's not what my church told me, it's what God says in His word. I grew up going to church, I became a Christian young and as time and I grew older I wanted to know for sure what I believed to be true- for 10 years I read the bible, prayed, did research and kept praying to the God (Jesus) I believe in.

What I found out I can never be good enough ( this is through reading the bible) that's why God's Son (Jesus) paid a huge price, nothing I could ever do good enough could get me there but I found out about grace- God's mercy and loving grace, I don't have to earn it just accept it. Meaning God's forgiving me by dying on the cross and coming back alive- once I understood that which took about 10 years of reading, hearing God's word, praying I know it to be true.

Thanks for being understanding, I do not mean harm, I do wish everyone would understand but hey I grew up going to church and it took me 10 years to understand God's grace. Grace is my favorite word.

Do I expect everyone to believe like me, no they don't, I do believe what I believe is the truth-- by the way I use The Message Bible or The Life Application Bible NIV to help me.

I am glad I live here and can believe my belief and others can believe there's- Thank God for freedom. I just know what I have found out about Wicca from the research I have done on it. Thanks again for understanding.

Submitted by lilly on Mon, 01/07/2008 - 6:56pm.

You don't buy into this unity church do you? If you do I would spend time learning and researching it. There's only one way to God. It can't be through all different religions.

God inspired men to write His word the bible so we would know the way, the truth and the life.

The Bretton Woods agreement was used during the closing days of WWII to establish a system of fixed exchange rates between countries. This was intended to stabilize economies emerging from the war while taking on the rebuilding of their societies.

It did base itself off of gold reserves, which wasn't a problem until the US went off of the gold standard in the early 70's.

That's what I've been today. It's like I held off for two weeks and then.... kaboooommmm! Post explosions! Anyhow, I believe secular folks have an unfounded fear of Mike Huckabee. If you have read anything I have ever written, you can figure out that I'm a democrat. I'm not scared to vote across isles, but it has to be a true centrist. With Mike Huckabee, I believe we are seeing a man smarter than he is given credit.

He knows that the Fair Tax craze is good for conservative votes, and he also knows it has absolutely no chance of ever being reality. His problem will be getting the votes while extricating himself from the fair tax wreckage when economists begin picking it apart.

More importantly, I have read more on Mike Huckabee and his wife than I have on any other candidates. I won't be voting for him due to his Fair Tax support and his flippity floppity on the Terri Schiavo case with respect to what power the government should have over the state and a family's affairs, but he seems to be a genuine good-hearted person.

He forced the first church he ever pastored to integrate. A black man came to church with him, and when the parrishioners tried to kick him out, Huck said he'd leave with him. Huck lost some members, but the church had an audience of all of God's children from that day forth. Hukabee also doesn't feel trickle down economics adequately splashes the wealth of the wealthy off of the poor. He is against close-minded and arrogant foreign policy. This guy is my favorite GOPer by far, and I could certainly retire with his signature on my DD-214. I hope it is signed president Obama, Richardson, or Edwards though Smiling

Bush assumed the presidency in January 2001, making him a 21st century president. . . and making you the worst blogger of the new millennium. Stick to your sofa, TV, tired quotes, and occasional re-read of Kubla Khan.

Things are much worse than 8 years ago. Hillary seems the obvious solution - she has ethics and experience. I'll vote for her - if I can just hear her plan to solve even one of the problems you mentioned. Let's start with gas prices/oil prices. How can she fix that? A related question - how did Bush cause that?

"(Hillary) has ethics and experience." That's pretty good. Bill Clinton's presidency ranked pretty low on the ethics scale. Hillary's recent involvement with certain Chinese businessmen hardly improves her marks since she became a Senator. Regarding Hillary's experience, she occasionally slept with President Bill Clinton. That would seem to qualify a number of women to be President of the United States!

Angry taxpayer who doesn't realize Hillary Clinton graduated at the top of her class and is a twice elected senator in the US Senate ;first ever first lady to pull that one off. Law Degree from Yale, Armed Services Committee, Committee for Health, Education, and Labor. So, angry dude, what are her rivals' qualifications mate, and what should we expect to see from Laura Bush after the White House?

You think she is smart? How smart is she that she does not care if her husband cheats on her all the time. Dumb lady!!! Any smart lady would not do that. Oh, I forgot morals don't count.

I took you to be a forgiving type person, but obviously that doesn't apply to Hillary forgiving her husband.
Many of your preachers are former felons, drunks, robbers, and have many scrapes with the law. You forgive them, don't you?
I'll bet you have forgiven Ted Haggard and the Atlanta Bishops (I think they all are in trouble, black and white.
Depends upon whose ox is being gored on Sunday, doesn't it?

Oh, he's picking something.

UMMMMMMMM- Sorry cheating is cheating- SHOCK even with Ted Haggard, does that make it right for Bill and Hillary now.

Yes, you forgive, now Nick listen if your wife kept cheating on you I bet you would not care one bit huh?

Submitted by sageadvice on Mon, 01/07/2008 - 8:06pm.

I guess I know what you are saying?
Only get forgiven once, I guess. Bill still at it huh? Never knew that.
Catholics are the way to go---get forgiven every day!

Maybe ask nickpicker 2 if Bill is still at it, he has done it all his life. You have a cheating mate or are you the one that cheats and it's okay over and over and over????? Don't seem you are sorry if it's over and over and over does it? Good Night Make sure Nickpicker 2 isn't cheating.

What should a woman do when her husband has been unfaithful, but he wishes to save the marraige?

Come on Bill has done this all his life and is still doing it, it's a Bill I will scratch your back if you will scratch mine- help me win this. The same with him. Morals and love? If Bill was my husband I would not want him around me with all the women he has been with.

If your wife behaved like this would you continue in marriage- sorry where is the love? Love does not continue to cheat cheat cheat.

If we are registered to vote in general elections, are we covered for primaries as well, or do we have to register specifically for primaries?

Kevin "Hack" King

Submitted by sageadvice on Mon, 01/07/2008 - 8:00pm.

In GA you must register to vote by party in primaries only.

The "by party" thing doesn't apply in general election--just register.
