Third, fourth and fifth graders at Fayetteville Intermediate School recently developed a water conservation plan for the area as part of a state contest.

Their entry was announced Friday as the best in Georgia, along with a Roswell school, by Gov. Sonny Perdue.

FIS won a $2,000 prize from contest sponsor The Home Depot, with the money being used to carry out the conservation plan in the community.

FIS was one of 85 schools entering the contest. Students developed a conservation plan and detailed their project in an essay along with an implementation budget.
