GitReal can't get his facts straight or edit fast enough

nuk's picture

This morning, GitReal posted his usual baseless and never-with-any-proof accusations of criminal activities by DevAuth, Lenox, etc. This time, he included a link that somehow was supposed to "prove" that Bob Lenox and his "crew" covered-up and quashed an investigation into the Development Authority after the GBI had looked into it. Problem was, his link started off with a statement that Mayor STEVE BROWN in 2003 instructed Chief Murray to investigate the DevA. How exactly did Lenox and "his crew" quash this investigation when they weren't in office and the Development Authority was shutting-down???

When I posted a rebuttal pointing out the obvious fact that Lenox didn't quash anything as ex-Mayor, especially with Steve as mayor, Git decided to delete my post. Since it was in "his blog" section, he can do that. Then he decides to go back and edit his post, taking out the blatantly false statements he made about investigations being quashed by Bob Lenox, as well as the link that shows Brown instructing Murray to investigate. Too late, Git!

So, if Lenox couldn't have squashed an investigation because he wasn't in office, who did? Mayor Steve Brown? Chief Jim Murray? I don't think so!!

Like I mentioned in the post he deleted, anyone can ask for the records of this PD investigation into the Development Authority. It's covered under the Open Records Act. But then, you might be INFORMED about FACTS instead of making total BS up and later realizing how wrong you are.

This was all in response to a simple question: if the DevAuth or others engaged in all of this alleged criminal behavior that Git keeps blathering about daily, where is the PROOF? Where are the INDICTMENTS? They don't exist. Still don't. "Illegal bailouts?" No proof on that either.

My gosh people, we paid one and half million dollars to cover up the development authority's bad deeds. I'm a Logsdon supporter and I know Tom Farr, Doug Warner, Bob Truitt and Bob Lenox took advantage of the city. That bunch was some very bad apples.

Dar Thompson called my office when he was running for mayor and said he was willing to go around the law and pay the hidden loans back. Since I'm in real estate development, he naturally assumed we are all a bunch of greedy blood sucking people and thought I'd go along with him. I think he was shocked when I said they ought to go to jail.

Harold made promises to people, he got elected and he followed through. Unfortunately, his attempt at TDK failed, a move we'll regret one day. But I will honestly say TDK failed because Bob Lenox, Jim Pace and Fred Brown lied about the real intentions of the road. Had they been honest, we might be driving on TDK now.

Matt Ramsey is just a kid and I think the bums listed above fully intend to use him whenever necessary. If things are going to get better for our road system and economy, we need some people like Steve Brown who knows what the heck is going on. I don't always agree with him, but he's honest, I'll give him that.

Dar wanted to buy their way out of jail????
Bob Lenox also wanted to pay a million of his money on something once, if I remember correctly, but I never saw any of it.
We do own some expensive INTERSECTIONS, SEWERS and TENNIS CENTERS!

Bottom line here: Can a bunch of lawyers draw up agreements that the Peachtree National Bank (Synovus) will be paid what they want, and that taxpayers will pay it with hotel taxes that we could use many places elsewhere?

Do Chiefs of Police, Prosecutors, and the GBI allow that sort of thing if lawyers want to do it?

Would the GA Attorney General be interested? I know the Sheriff wouldn't! Wrong party.

I think I'm going to be sick.

Actually, it's good to see that arch enemies can grasp the meaning of Christmas.

Putting aside your differences and approaching each other on common ground hasn't killed anybody lately.

Merry Christmas to all.

On 12/26/2007 we can resume the verbal assaults on each other. But until that time we wouldn't lose anything by being a little extra nice to all of our opponents.

We all might learn a thing or two, I'm not getting my hopes up, if we take the time to listen.

I've merely asked, like yourself, why no real action? No indictments, no NOTHING....

I wonder how PTC even exists sometimes, with all the corrupt politicians we had running this place.

Okay, who are you calling corrupt and show me the proof!! Throwing out mud just to do it is wasting all of our time. I really want to see the facts and the how, who is corrupt. You are painting a broad brush at present with nothing to back it up.
Be nice, Kitty2U

I wish the Citizen had followed up on this story.

It appears that Brown requested Chief Murray send documents to the GBI for independent analysis.

The GBI sent a note back stating that there wasn't conclusive evidence of a crime, that more in-depth documentation was needed.

Then....nothing.

Did Chief Murray drop the ball? Or was he ordered not to followup..and if so by whom? Why didn't the Citizen follow up on this? Did then-city attorney Rick Lindsey play a role in any of this?

Maybe after this election this can be explored in further depth.

I'd bet a shiny silver dollar that one or more pre-Brown PTC mayors are involved in this.

Since he was Mayor, he would know and he obviously had a big interest in seeing the Development Authority members and anyone tied to the Tennis Ctr/Amphitheater brought down, IF there were grounds to do so, since he made it a big issue very publicly. With Murray now retiring, maybe after this election either Murray or Brown will add his viewpoint to what exactly happened post-GBI.

Another issue I'd like to hear more from Brown about is the Public Works' crime ring where most of the supervisors and mgt. were all charged with various crimes, most plea-bargained, then.....silence. I'm not laying that on Steve Brown because I agree with him that it very likely had been going on for years before Brown took office, but I want to know how the dept head(and also then Asst City Mgr, now Devel Dir) Colin Halterman didn't have any clue whatsoever that the very people in offices next to him were running a blatant crime ring for years. That to me is a big mystery, or rather how he kept his job and even got promoted and a big raise.

THAT is the whole point that McDonoughDawg and I mention over and over: if someone committed some crime that you keep claiming they did, where are the charges?

I'm not saying the DevAuth committed any crimes like you are. The PW crowd? Yeah, they committed crimes and plead guilty. That's factual.

I think the DevAuth made some really dumb mistakes, but illegal activity? I've yet to see any proof of that. I sure haven't seen any proof that an ex-mayor covered it up or killed an investigation.

If the GBI didn't believe there was enough evidence to further pursue the matter then why did they feel that this case merited further investigation and auditing?

Did you even read the letter?

How about the open meetings violations?

GIT,
You are correct in what you are saying about the Tennis Center. I know what happened and I could name names, but since it's not documented anywhere, I won't.

Hutch,
As I've been sitting here in Oklahoma waiting for ice to fall out of the forecast, I've had time to follow the blogs. Problem is I keep getting glitched out of the blogs and I haven't been able to post. Git's doing a heckofajob making his case. You can tell by the imagination-stretching responses he is getting in return. Take care, and I hope Oklahoma's ice becomes Atlanta's rain in a day or two.

Cheers,

You delete the original post in your blog, then it deletes the follow-ups. You go back and re-post and voila! like no one ever responded.

Or, Cal and "crew" could have deleted it but I highly doubt it as there wasn't any name calling, personal attacks, profanity, etc. etc.

The post was titled Totally Erroneus and was online here for about an hour or so before disappearing.

You make a good case that no illegal activity has been found in a court of law, but does it follow that no illegal activity OCCURRED? Let's take water boarding. It has been explicitly posted as illegal since before WWII. We have prosecuted terrorists, the Japanese, and others for this WAR CRIME. We also have CIA officials who have freely admitted to water boarding prisoners. no one has been found guilty of this war crime in a court of law. Does this mean that no crime has occurred, or does it mean we, for some reason, have not adequately investigated and filed charges on illegal activity that has taken place? I believe the latter has been our experience in PTC WRT the Tennis Center.

Cheers to you, NUK. Good arguments mate,

I just think the odds are that with Brown's persistence and the fact that he was Mayor means that illegal activities would have been uncovered because Brown made it a major issue and wouldn't tolerate a half-hearted non-investigation or "letting it just slide." That sure isn't Brown's style.

The waterboarding issue? There is no doubt it was done and is illegal, it's just now who is going to take the fall for it? It will probably be the CIA agents who administered the torture and who were following orders from their superiors. As far as I'm concerned, those agents didn't go into business for themselves on this, they were ordered to. I think it will interesting to see how it all plays out as I'm pretty sure that several Dems and Repubs were well aware of what was happening the whole time, and that the White House isn't going to be able to claim ignorance either.

Somehow it has been established within our Washington government that if the President of the United States says that it is necessary to use more stringent means to obtain needed information then it is legal to do so!
That is pretty much the same as, there is no law against it.
You know--like a bomb is about to go off in the--say, big hotel--and this fellow knows which one. Water-board him!
Well, no one wanted to bring charges against the particular people responsible for the Tennis Center robbery because they were unusually important, good citizens, and officials.
No body got water-boarded, or even charged to find out, since in one case the President may be charged, and in the other, well, I don't know for sure, but someone did it! And many someones were complicit!

About one and one-half million (or more by now) dollars disappeared. A fact. That is illegal!

You can't delete individual posts in someone else's blog, but YOUR own whole blog, yeah.

This forum would be a lot easier to read and follow the discussion if it wasn't blogging software and ran some discussion forum software like vbulletin instead. This is very hard to keep up with particular subjects as everything is linear from most recent to oldest on any subject.
