F’ville Mayor Steele is supporting Ramsey

As we approach the special election to fill the House District 72 seat that was so ably filled by our friend Dan Lakly for so many years, I would like to offer my unqualified support for Republican Matt Ramsey.

I had the privilege to coach Matt as an under-10 soccer player here in Fayette County. Matt went through the Fayette County School System, went off to college and because of opportunities available in our county has been able to return home to raise a family and become involved in the community.

It is nice that we have several candidates to consider; however, Matt has the clearest understanding of state government, its responsibilities, capabilities and shortcomings.

As a conservative who believes the best government is that which is closest to the people (i.e., our cities, county and school board) Matt will support initiatives that ensure local residents have the ability, financial resources and authority to make local decisions affecting their quality of life.

Matt has a strong sense of responsibility and recognizes that elective office is about service, not self, and would be attentive to the citizens of District 72.

Having worked for U.S. Representative Mac Collins and both the Georgia House and Senate, Matt is very knowledgeable of legislative procedures and the men and women currently serving in leadership positions.

With his legislative background, intellect and servant’s heart Matt will be able to hit the ground running, thus continuing the responsive conservative representation that fulfills the desires of the vast majority of our citizens.

Ken Steele, mayor

Fayetteville, Ga.

[Steele was reelected last month without opposition for another four-year term as mayor.]

The one man responsible for annexing more county land for high density residential uses is supporting Matt Ramsey financially. Wow, what a surprise.
