Brown will serve with openness

Steve Brown is a dedicated public servant. He has served the citizens of Peachtree City and this area tirelessly as mayor and as a private citizen.

After Steve won the mayor’s race five years ago, supporters of his opponent began a campaign of misinformation and harassment to damage his political future and reputation. Steve refused to be drawn into mudslinging, instead sticking to issues and facts.

Unfortunately, four years of negative campaigning brought enough uncertainty to the electorate that he lost his bid for reelection in 2006.

Steve refused to let this result sour his attitude on our community and after the unfortunate death of his friend Dan Lakly, Steve decided to throw his hat into the ring for the special election for state House District 72.

I have full confidence that, if elected, Steve will serve the citizens of District 72 with the same dedication, openness, and integrity he showed as mayor of Peachtree City.

Robert Brown (no relation to Steve)

Peachtree City, Ga.

I forgot about this letter and should have used it in an earlier blog. What this guy says is true. Ramsey's positive campaign slogan went by the wayside when he let his blog supporters do the mud slinging.

Not all of Ramsey's supporters sling mud, but there are about five or six who have more than trashed for the rest of them.

Let's face it: neither side's supporters are blameless and the whole campaign has been the opposite of Sturbaum-King, except for the candidates themselves who took a higher road than their supporters.

Bob Brown endorsing Steve Brown is no surprise. Anyone who has ever attended a PTC Council meeting over the years and had to listen to his incessant whining could guess who he supports.
