It was a busy week for copper theft, burglary and theft by receiving stolen property, resulting in the arrest of three Tyrone residents. A homeowner on Senoia Road notified police Dec. 3 that upon arriving home at approximately 12:50 p.m. she found that a door to her home had been forced open, according to police spokesperson Alicia Batts. Det. Lt. Dean Johnson responded to the call, confirming the woman’s report of the forced entry and that miscellaneous items from the home were laying on the floor and counter areas. Upon searching the area, Johnson was told by a witness that a male and a female had been seen walking in the woods near the Senoia Road residence at approximately 11:30 a.m., Batts said. Continued checks of the surrounding area led Johnson to Whispering Pines mobile home park. While checking residences, Johnson approached one of the homes and through the front door noticed some of the items stolen from the Senoia Road residence, said Batts. Arrested at the scene on charges of burglary were Tyrone residents Aaron A. Childress, 25, and Kimberly A. Parham, 24, said Batts. Items recovered at the residence included a large amount of jewelry, binoculars, a digital camera and a number of miscellaneous items. In a Dec. 5 incident, Autumn Trace resident Andrew K. Barber, 26, was arrested on two counts of theft by receiving, according to police reports. Police received a report in the early afternoon hours that a white male had been seen driving a four-wheeler onto vacant lots along Kenmare Road, said Batts. Attempting to locate the driver, Det. Johnson was told by workers in the area they had seen a four-wheeler matching the description pulling onto Autumn Trace. Johnson located the residence and the four-wheeler and spoke with Barber, Batts said. When questioned about the four-wheeler, Barber said it belonged to someone in Riverdale. A check of the vehicle identification number revealed that the vehicle had been stolen in Coweta County in December 2006. Another vehicle at the residence, a 1996 Nissan Maxima, was found to have been stolen from Fulton County in November, said Batts. Barber was arrested on two counts of receiving stolen property, she said. Another burglary with no arrests to date occurred at the new Tyrone Library on Commerce Drive. Police were notified Dec. 3 by construction company representative John Taylor that the building had been entered sometime between Nov. 30 and Dec. 2, said Batts. Taylor said copper wire had been stolen from the ceiling area of one of the rooms, along with four rolls of copper wire stored in a closet. The value of the wire was placed at approximately $500. login to post comments |
