Doug Sturbaum handily won the runoff election for the Post 2 seat in Peachtree City.

With all precincts reporting, Sturbaum took 838 votes (61 percent) while opponent Mike King took 522 votes (38 percent).

Only 1,360 people voted in the runoff election, just 6.31 percent of the 21,618 registered voters.

Both candidates agreed to avoid attacking each other during the campaign and both agreed they kept their promise.

You have elected a great person to your city council. Doug will serve you with energy, integrity and an open door. I have known Doug since 1986 and can tell you that he is honorable and fair. You have a representative you can be very proud of.

I originally voted for Mr. King in the primary but switched my vote in the runoff to Doug Sturbaum as I saw him as the more 'contrary' candidate to the current council's pro developer leanings. I was very impressed by Mr. King's 'No' stance on many issues, especially the TDK extension which would be ruinous to PTC. I hope Mike King will consider running for coucilman Boone's seat when the next elections come around as I would definitely like to see him on the council as a worthy candidate promoting quality of life issues for our city. Congrats to both candidates for a race well run, and its a shame you both couldn't win.

I want to take a moment and thank the citizens of PTC for this honor. I am humbled by this opportunity to serve you.

I also want to thank Mike King for his kind words of encouragement. Mike and I ran an upfront, issues only campaign that was for the benefit of PTC.

Once again - thank you to all the citizens in PTC.

I think we all had the opportunity to vote for 2 good candidates. I almost didn't vote because I am not sure there was a dimes worth of dif. I hope King stays involved, I just went for the "gad-fly" effect.

Congratulations Mr. Sturbaum. Your comments for making the landuse plan city ordinance and protection and preservation of our greenspace struck a positive note with citizens. Many of us are looking to you and Mr. Haddix to "shift" the direction of the council as you will have the opportunity to move the city forward through some challenging but exciting times. Tonight is a time to celebrate - so CONGRATULATIONS - and go get'em!

Well once Mike King was exposed for being a drinking buddy of Harold Logsdon and Steve Boone, he was a goner for sure. We didn't need another alcoholic in the city council.

Mike Harman was booted, King got the chute and I expect Matt Ramsey who has the full backing of all the Harman, King and Logsdon supporters will meet the same fate.

Congrats Mr. Sturbaum and it's all for one and one for all in the voting booth.

You just stated that Mike King is an alcoholic. Got any proof of that, or was it the typical asinine and ignorant comment that so populates this site any more?

I agree with Nuk that my comment was made without proof. Just because you are seen drinking alcoholic beverages with the mayor does not make you an alcoholic.

I stand corrected.

There are several posters to this blog that have gotten completely out of control lately. To the point where I think some apologies may be needed.
To call a man an alcoholic with no proof is just flat out wrong.
To call the Mayor and the rest of the council idiots and crooks (and alcoholics) is also wrong. Whether you agree with them or not, it is cowardly and irresponsible to cast aspersions like this with no proof (although easy behind an assumed "screen" name).
Just because you dislike or disagree with something that has been done should not give anybody a right to attack a person like has been happening in this forum.
IN FACT I WANT TO LAY DOWN A CHALLENGE!
I challenge anyone to give me a list of things that Mayor Logsdon or the council has done that would be, even remotely illegal or even immoral.
I am a patient man, I can wait.

Thank you candidates for running a clean campaign. I wish I could say the same about annonamous "citizens" blogging here.
