Thank you to our Fayette County Fire Department.

My house at 219 Corinth Road caught fire on Nov. 14. It was very devastating.

I cannot say enough about our firefighters in Fayette County. There were four different stations that came out: the city of Fayetteville, the station at Seay Road, one on Ga. Highway 314 and I believe one more station.

The fire was burning through the roof. They contained the fire to just one side of the house. Then they took everything that was damaged out of the house and covered the places that were open to the weather with tarps.

They worked very hard making sure the fire did not spread to the other side of the house. After they left several of them came back every hour to make sure the fire was totally contained.

I really don’t think these men and women get the credit they deserve. They risk their lives for all Fayette County residents and they do an absolutely wonderful job.

I just wish I could name each firefighter who was there and I want to say thank you to all the firefighters and let them know how very much I appreciate them and what they do everyday.

Some of the men who were there had been to my house several times with paramedics back in 2001 and 2002 when my husband was home with a severe stroke.

Also, a thank you goes to our Sheriff’s Department. Corinth Road had to be blocked off both ways. These men did a great job in handling the traffic.

Do residents of Fayette County really know how blessed we are with our fire department and our law enforcement?

I read the bad stuff people write about them, but very seldom is the good they do mentioned. If something terrible happens to you, you will know how lucky you are to have these two departments. Let’s just pray you never need them to come out to your home.

the fire? I'm just curious as there are many firefighters in my family and I always wonder what causes the fires they fight.
