I'm Convinced - The Name Leticia Is French For...

Git Real's picture

I'm thoroughly convinced that the name Leticia is French for 'Stupid Fat Woman Of Color'. I am convinced that the name Leticia predestines one's future to that of being an ignorant, unemployable, compost producer.

Don't even ask me about the 300# Letisha I encountered at Publix the other day. Her days are undoubtedly numbered there.

CLICK HERE TO SEE: Leticia - The 29 Year Old Grandmother

Let's look at a few Leticia and Celia (her offspring) quotes:

She can’t wait to get back into her old clothes. When will the baby weight go away?

It's not. You're gonna be like that for the rest of your life.

“When do you think I can play basketball again? I want to go out for the team at school.”

You're not. In fact you probably won't even finish school.

She can’t yet imagine the sleepless nights, the responsibility

You mean this baby is actually going to make her responsible?

Leticia is a grandmother at 29. She was 13 — a seventh-grader — and living in Chicago when she gave birth to her oldest child

Uhhh... I'm not sure what to say?

Now she has four: Celia; 9-year-old Romeo Johnson, 4-year-old Ramone Johnson and 1-year-old Romello Johnson.

Yikes? Are the sperm donors identifiable? How many were there? Where are they now?

She and Russell’s dad are not together. They are more like friends, she said.

Is he a good enough friend to help pay-up his share of raising baby Russel?

Celia has known her own father, who lives in Chicago, only since she was 10.

Imagine that....

She and Russell are living with her mother and three little brothers in the Lincoln Homes complex

How many 'little brothers' does it take to start a gang?

They left Chicago after Leticia heard about a friend moving to the Quad-Cities and how much low-income housing was available.

We all need to do what we can to make sure the cost of low-income housing in Fayette County becomes very, very expensive. Otherwise Letisha and Ceilia and the the Little Brother's Gang might be moving into a rental house near you.

She wants to open a beauty shop, but for now she stays home with her youngest sons and new grandson.

I'll bet you a hundred dollars to a dime that Grandma Letisha's Beauty Salon never opens.

Celia — wearing pajamas and a do-rag that covers her hair — holds the baby. Her tank top shows off two black tattoos on her arms.

Ick.. now how am I going to shake that image from my mind.

One, which winds down her forearm, reads “Tish,” her mom’s nickname. Another, below her shoulder, reads “Manica Magee,” which is the teen’s rap name

Oh... Uhh.. that's nice. I guess. Puzzled

Leticia told the girl she could get inked if she kept her grades up. They went to Chicago to get it done.

Please don't let my daughters see this. For the time being they're proud to get accolades for their grades. I'd sure hate to think I'd have to "ink 'em" as a reward. The bar has definitely been set too high there.

“She earned them,” Leticia said, nodding her head.

Earned them? The grades or the tattoos. Puzzled You have to admit this is getting good.

Celia writes rap songs in her spare time, but she does not foresee making a living by doing that.

Chuckle...

“I want to do computers,” she said, or maybe health occupations.

Before she can do computers... she'll have to stop doing her 'friend'. Which 'doing' do you think she'll become most proficient at?

“Everybody’s gotta make their own decisions and your own choices, too,” Leticia said. “But she’s cool. She’s gonna be all right.”

Great parenting advise. Perhaps I should give it a try.

So she tries to focus on school, but mostly she thinks about gym class. The hoops are unlike the ones near her apartment where people hang on the metal rims and bend them. At school, they’re just right.

Yup... I see a IT Network Engineer in the making with this 16 year old compost maker. We're gonna be really prepared to take on the world in our new Global Economy.

This was the main reason she wanted to get back to school.?

"our tax money at work", usually used when referring to Democrats or some minority group or another. When I DON'T hear it is when things like this happen (quoted from a report to Congress)..."In total, more than $1 billion in funds paid to Halliburton were found by auditors to be 'questioned,' 'unreasonable in amount,' 'inflated,' or 'excessive,' while another $422 million were 'unsupported' by the documentation provided by Halliburton." Now that works out to a whole lot more than "bail money" Keep the faith

Of course there is no sin in wasting and filching money from the government if it in any way enriches corporations. Insane wars also is Ok.

However, money wasted on poor, ignorant, people is unforgivable!

that all the fiscal conservatives on here are always railing against the "welfare queens" and "food stamp cheats" and how our hard earned tax money goes to "those people". But in the cases where some corporate power bilks their government out of billions (BILLIONS) of dollars there isn't a peep. And the sad thing is, bad, that you are absolutely correct when you say there are worse cases than Halliburton. And we let it go on, while screaming about the relative scant millions that are spent on our own citizens. And even sadder, is that we see nothing wrong with this picture. Keep the faith.

Democracy is not a spectator sport.

Yardman, I am so tired of bloggers whose only response to problems is to point out the failings of the "other side". Yes, I'm ticked off with the "welfare queen" mentality, but I'm also ticked off with all irresponsible government spending - INCLUDING the military's $500 toilet seats, Haliburton, or whatever.

I listened to the debates Saturday evening and grew weary of all the candidates pandering to their preferred special interest groups. Just once I would love to hear someone like John Edwards say something like "Our healthcare system does not serve people as well as it should. If I'm elected President, I will consider ALL options, including tort reform, if necessary, to truly contain costs and maintain quality for ALL Americans".

Do you think we will ever hear something like that? Not as long John Edwards is funded by the trial lawyers.

Do you think Rudy will ever advocate reforms on Wall Street as long as CEOs pump money into his campaign. I doubt it.

Do you think Hillary will ever advocate significant educational reform as long as she is funded by the NEA? I doubt it.

Our society has REAL problems that won't be solved as long as our "public servants" continue to shift blame while picking the pockets of the taxpayers.

I never once said that "our side" is somehow more virtuous than "their side". I happen to agree that all people will have to evaluate how they view government in order to gain control of run away government spending. I was merely stating that everytime anyone wants to criticize government spending they immediately turn to those most visible (and most vulnerable) as shining examples of government waste. The amount of money that the corporate "leeches" suck out of the American taxpayers' pockets far out paces those "welfare cheats". Your stinging incriminations of Edwards, Clinton and Guliani may be spot on, but we, as voters, will get no better representation until we, as voters, demand better representation.
Democracy is not a spectator sport.

I believe most of these people's sense of self importance causes them to equate themselves on some level with powerful individuals or corporations while at the same time allowing them to look down upon socially disadvantaged segments of society. It's apparently a bit of a "need heriarchy" thing with people. Most of them, if they were to spend time around poor people, would probably develop compassion for them. Basically, good people think harmful things in part due to insulation from others along with a basic need to feel important. Kinda like blogging. Smiling

There are things out there that would cause you to loose sleep if you dug into them.

Although Halliburton is a good example, there are worse, a lot worse.

The spiral of failure continues to the detriment of hardworking taxpayers and the child. The absence of accountability in this community sickens me.
